Have to give up my piggies

I love my piggies but I have no time for them. I just had a baby and all of time is consumed with baby and homemaking. I don't have time to play with them like I used to and I don't want them to become "those pets in the corner".
I love in the Toronto area and am willing to let them go free to a good home. If anyone is interested please email me at [email protected]
They have their own website if you would like to visit and see them. members.rogers.com/pigsinspace/index.htm

Re: Have to give up my piggies

awww :(
have you tried posting at the cavy spirit site. theres a section in the classifieds link where you can post piggies that are looking for new homes (thats how i found my two new girls). oh and to discourage snake owners posing to be "future piggie owners", you should put an adoption fee. that way, you will know that they are going to a home where they will be loved and cherished, and not to a home that the person wanted them because they were free.

Re: Have to give up my piggies

OMG that would be horrible. I never even thought that thay may happen. Thank you so much for the tip. I would hate for that to happen to my babies.

Re: Have to give up my piggies

I wish I lived in your area - I would love to adopt 2 more piggies. I have one little boy now (he's my second gp) and I can't imagine my life with out him. They are the most fantastie, entertaining and loving pets. When I try to explain this to people they don't believe it. I wish I could be of help because i would love more and don't want to buy. There are no adoption places in my area. Good luck with your baby and your babies!;)

???

Why? Your pigs will do just fine being the "animals in the corner" They may become a bit unruly, but they won't suffer from not having human contact. As long as there are two of them and they get along great, you atleast monitor them for a little while each day and they are getting proper care, then I don't see a reason to give them away.

It'll be great when things settle down in a few years and your piggies are still there to wheek at you when you bring them veggies ^.^

Re: ???

Although it would be nice for them to stay with her, sometimes things happen and the one's we love tend to not get as much attention and love they deserve. her piggies might have been getting alot of atention and floor time when she had the time to give them, and they are already use to a routine, and before they become neglected she might have decide to find them a new home. cavys are very clever and are sensitive to change and can pick up on that change very quickly. so if she must find them a new home it should be where the activity level and attention she was giving them should stay the same until they become use to their new home.

P.S: lianne, if you do decide to place your piggies in a new home, let the new owners know you will be checking up on them form time to time (just to make sure they are well taken care of, just like shelters do when someone adopts an animal from them =0))

Re: ???

aww that's so sad you have to get rid of them. You have the cutest piggies!! :) I wish I lived in your area because I am looking for some more g.p.'s for my one, but I don't. Maybe you should ask around, such as your friends or someone that you work with. That way you can always go over and visit and check up on how they are!! Good Luck ;)

Re: ???

I used to take them outside for grass time 2 or 3 times a week. They had floor time in the house alot too. And on top of that we cuddled with them constantly. We just can't do all that anymore and I don't think it is fair to them. I hardly have time to maintain their cage.
Thank you for all your suggestions :)

I'm sorry

Try going to petfinder.com hit classifids and put it there. I wish I lived in that area. I'm getting a guinea pig in december. I agree with you it's not fair for the guinea pigs. Your doing the right thing. When your baby gets older you could get he/she one.
