I need to rebuild my cage... well the gates around it. I would like to yse cable ties.... has anyone done just those with out the connecters? I could use them too but I hate them. I have two on the ends and 3 on the sides. I have an uper deck too, i need smething more stable then just connecters. Thanks!

You do know That the grids are to with stand 50lb's Once put together correctly thats why they use connectors not twistties?????????

All of my cages are put together with just zip ties. It's fine. Many people prefer zip ties because connectors are hard to put in and they fall off pretty easily.

Cavylover- When the grids are put together into a shelf, yes they hold 50lbs, but not when they are put together into a cage.
 
I've used just zip ties to build a travel gate. I haven't tried to put anything on it like a second level, but it stands up amazingly well with the ties....they're great!
 
Surprisingly, the cable ties are really strong. The connectors are such a pain and so difficult to use. It should be fine if you just use the ties on their own.
