guinnea pig balding

I have had a mother/daughter pair of guinnea pigs for 7 months and the daughter, cinnamon, has always been skittish. I know for a fact that this is because the owner i recieved them from had a cat that used to attack cinnamon when she was a baby. But my problem is that for about a month she has had a bald patch. it is on her back stemming from the shoulder blades to the rear end. i've checked her for bugs but haven't seen evidence of any. It also seems to hurt her when i lightly touch it. What is wrong with my guinnea pig?

Re: guinnea pig balding

Sounds like mites.

Please get all your pigs treated ASAP. Mites are very painful and can/will result in death if left untreated.

Re: thanks

If the pig with the bald patch is housed with any of the pigs or has been around any other pigs they too will need to be treated for mites.
