Chat Guinea pigs are terrified of me again

My guinea pigs are terrified of me again. They run away when I put my hand in their cage and will run away and teeth chatter at me when I try to pet them. It wasn't like this a week ago. What do you think happened that is making them act like this?

Mine go through phases like that where they run like I'm a scary monster. Who knows what goes on in their little piggy minds. Just remember, they are prey animals, so fear is normal. In the wild, it would be essential for survival.

Mine have been the same lately. They have never chattered at me before and I felt awful. I have done nothing to them :-( hopefully they'll get over it

The only time I talk sternly to them is when they chew their cage bars. And then they give me the "who me, mom? look and go run around their cage and popcorn. And I think they are all just over the age of 1 year. Also this is off topic but, would it harm my piggies if I use a scentsy in my room? It is like a candle warmer.

Pigs are naturally like that. Don't take it personally. Believe me, I know how it feels but some pigs are just naturally more bashful than others. Our one pig Tiny was shy until the day he died. He would hide at every opportunity but once held was calm enough. He would always give kisses while in my lap.
