Lettuce is good for guinea pigs - not in "small amounts" - my piggies get their recommended daily veggie allotment in lettuce, peppers, and if we have them, zucchini and cucumbers. Carrots are a sometimes treat but we use regular carrots, not baby ones.
You can give them hay and hold off on the food/pellets until you can get a guinea pig specific one - the seeds and such in hamster food are dangerous for piggies. Just give them extra hay.
