Guinea Pig Pregnancy Check

I think my guinea pig is pregnant and I really really want to know how long until the babies come. Her abdomen is starting to harden up and I can feel little lumps in it too. They however are not moving.

Is she developing a pear shape? Can you somehow post photos? Pigtures would be great to determine if she is in fact pregnant. With a pregnant pig you will need a 2x4 or 2x5, good size for when the babes get a bit bigger and need to stretch their legs more.

well, how long has she been pregnant? or do you know? Does her belly look really big or just starting to expand? Does her belly stick out at the sides?

Once you can clearly feel the babies moving there should be about 3 weeks left and maybe a little less. Right now it sounds like she may have 4 to 5 weeks left depending on how big she is. If she is very obviously pear shaped then I would say that she has about 4 weeks or less. Also about a week or maybe a few days before she has the babies, she may become less active and has trouble just walking over objects. I am not sure if this has helped you, but this has been my experience with my guinea who just gave birth three weeks ago.

Just out of curiosity, how many pigs do you have, and how long have you had the one you think is pregnant?

Also, make sure to seperate the males from the females immediately, if you have them together.

I have attached a picture. And here is some more info on my piggies. I have 2 piggies, 1 male, 1 female. The male is probably a little less than a year old but the female is probably around 5-6 months old. I keep them in a plastic kiddie pool covered in newspaper. I seperate them at night and while im at school but when im home i keep them together. They love each other and I love them. This is a picture I took of her yesterday, I hope that this picture turns up, if it doesnt then go to (broken link removed) and see it.

PLEASE seperate your pigs. This sounds like you planned the pregnancy. Having a male and female in the same cage, unless one has been fixed, is irresponsible.
