Guinea Pig Introduction.

I just introduced my female guinea pig to my two male guinea pigs. I figured I might as well do it since they always hear each other. I introduced them and it wasn't long till my male Chutter was trying to breed with my female guinea pig. So I took her out, now my male guinea pig Chutter is running around trying to hump the other male guinea pig. lol. It really scares me. Is this normal?

Are the 2 boys neutered? If not, your female pig may well be pregnant. It's not a good idea to put in 1 female with 2 males, because they (the boars)will fight amongst themselves for her. The humping you are seeing is a sign of dominance and it is very normal.

I didn't let anything happen to the female. I only put her in long enough for them to meet. When Chutter purring and wagging his butt back and forth I took her out and put her back into her cage.

Oh ok! The "bum shaking" is called rumblestrutting and that too is quite normal. So, what's going to happen then? Will you spay her or just get her her own companion? The former can be quite risky though, so have that in mind. Neutering is a lot simpler (though that too can have it's own complications).

I will probably get her a companion sometime in the future. I have her right next to my computer and I'm on my computer quite often so I get her out and play with her alot so she doesn't get lonely.

Ok, that sounds really good. We'd love to see pictures of her! Oh, I just thought of something - are you sure she doesn't have mites/lice/anything along those lines? She may have passed them onto the boys.

Never put them together again! The female being in their could cause your males to fight. They could breed in the blink of an eye. Why would you even risk it?

Piglet - I'm pretty sure she doesn't have anything she doesn't hardly ever itch. I will post pictures of all my Guinea Pigs later.

dagwellismypigy - They were under close watch the whole time. The males are calm now. Please don't tell me exactly what to do, it really irritates me.

Sorry but he is right. It only takes a second for them to breed and it could cause your males to fight.

Dagwell, next time try to rephrase to say it nicer.

But I have to agree. Unless you have an altered female or both the males are altered even under strict supervision the sow can get pregnant in the blink of an eye. Is it really worth the risk?

Nope. I guess not.
