Guinea Pig Cold?

Hello everyone! I just got a new cavy... and I think he might have a cold? he's sneezed a few times... Anything to be concerned about?

Does your pig have any nasal discharge?

Not that I know of... His nose seems clear and his eyes and ears are too...

Congrats on your new guinea pig! Yes, guineas get what are called URI's (upper respiratory infections), which require antibiotic treatment. While occasional sneezing isn't necessarily a sign of a URI, a vet visit for Mr. Pickles right now would be a very good idea anyway. You must find a good exotic-certified vet with knowledge of cavies, as certain antibiotics shouldn't be prescribed for guinea pigs. How old is he, and where did you get him?

He is still pretty young... Sadly, I did buy him from a pet store ( He was crammed in a 10 gallon tank with several other guinea pigs..) I hope he is okay...

I'd very definitely take him to a good vet for a thorough check. URI's in pet store pigs are common. Keep us updated. Good luck with your new boy!
