Hi! I am currently looking for two pairs of girl piggies to give a home, but until I find the right ones, I am trying to learn as much as possible about guinea pig care. As many of you here are experienced guinea owners, I would like your advice on daily guinea chores, what I need to care for them, including extras like toys and stuff. I already have a 2 x 5 built and on a stand. Just need the education and the piggies. :) I know some of the basic care, but would love to learn more. Please help me to give the best care to my future piggies as much as possible! All comments are appreciated and will be given a "Thanks" if proved useful. Thank You! ❤️

Well, here goes what I can give you.....

First off food- I personally use have started using KM's Pellets. My Charlie and George LOVE them. They are only sold online though. Oxbow is also a great brand, and it's sold in stores.Oxbow Animal Health | Home (Oxbow online) (broken link removed) (KM hayloft) (Timothy based for over six months)

Hay- I got the bluegrass, for my boys and they eat it up. Some on here call it piggie crack lol. But any piggie over six months need timothy hay, under that, they need alfalfa. Hay is to be in the cage at all times, as it helps with their digestion.

Hmm, veggies.... There's a thread on here that gives a wonderful guild (much better of course then I could give!) https://www.guineapigcages.com/threads/22157/

What type of bedding will you be using? I'm sure you're aware that Ceder isn't good for piggies, and pine has to be kiln dried. Personally I use aspen, but a lot of people swear by fleece.

Well, that's all I can think of... OH yeah! Kitchen scale that measure is ounces/grams.... If you have any specific questions feel free to ask!

Thanks for your helpful advice! :) I am aware of the harmful bedding, but thanks for mentioning it. I am considering Aspen for the piggies but fleece for our bunny, so a mix. Thank You!

you're welcome, Like I said if you need anything else let us know. That's why we're here.

Hmm... Well I guess my advice would be just to look at all the forums on this site and all the thread stickies. Also, check out Guinea Lynx and familiarize yourself with guinea pig medical problems, medicines, etc., so if you have an emergency you are prepared. Post pictures when you get your new friends!
