Guinea pig behaviour - snorting?
I've had my two female guinea pigs for just over a year now (sisters from a good breeder) and while one is clearly the dominant pig, they have always lived amicably together. But last night, I heard Rumba (the dominant pig) repeatedly make a snorting noise (sounded like quick breaths through her nose). Then Chacha (the other pig) responded with the same snort mixed with a squeal. It went on for several minutes and didn't stop till I took one pig out of the cage. Does anyone have any idea as to what's going on?
Today, Rumba seems to be doing a lot more digging (before finding a spot to lie down) then I have ever seen her do before.
Any info you could offer would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
