Hey guys, these two days I’ve realized that when my guinea pig, Pumpkin, is laying down or eating his hay, his left hind leg would lift up like this (in the picture below), but when I touch his leg to press it down he felt something and would walk away, so I’m not sure if this is normal or I should be worried? Pumpkin is 3 years old this year!

Looks normal to me. Every pig I've ever had, has done this to some extent or other.

On a side note is pumpkin a satin guinea pig, or is the lighting in the photo giving his coat a deceptively bright shine?

Yeah, I'm interested in the satin question as well.

I'd also check the bottom of his foot to make sure he's not developing bumblefoot.

Yes, pumpkin is a satin piggie! His feet are clear so far, I’ve been checking them regularly. Also, I thought I might post this as well - he’s not been pooping well recently and has poop stuck in his anal sack most of the time. I check them every day but are there any other signs I should look out for for impaction other than not pooping normally? Thanks!

As he is a satin has he ever been evaluated for osteodystrophy?

Generally impaction doesn't have any signs, aside from the obvious when you inspect the anal sac.

A three year old pig shouldn't be having problems with impaction. What exactly do you feed him?
