Hey guys,
So one of my 2 pigs has been experiencing which seems to be a UTI. ( took her to an exotic vet, got Xrays, got told no sludge/bladder stone signs) I've been giving her TMS & meloxicam since Friday for pain & antibiotic. So far I am seeing less blood in her urine so that's a good sign, but still have some questions that I couldn't quite confirm by researching.
It appears she isn't drinking water or eating hay as much. I do lay enough for her to always have access. She does however grab some bites here and there. I put a small handful of pellets but only seems to eat the treat ones in it. I also do randomly hear her drink from the water bottle but not very often. Along side this, I am giving her some green peppers & a slice of cucumber daily. She does happily eat the green pepper but seems to not want to eat the cucumber. Would you personally go ahead and start giving her some critical care or should I hold off as she is grabbing some bites & is still peeing & pooping some parts of the day ( however is still squealing when she does sometimes along with hunches, poops seem to be getting slightly better, at times weird shapes like devil horns or very tiny, but sometimes slightly more normal ovals). I do have another vet appointment the upcoming Friday for a recheck per the vet's request.
Sorry for the huge message, just a lot going on at once. The other concern which has popped up and seems I had overlooked as I thought it was the duo fighting but now having them separated for the time being came to light, is that she has a bald spot & seems to be itchy on her back. Based on researching, I do believe it may be mites ( her sister pig also does the same and had a V shape bald spot previously but seems to be getting better hair regrowth wise). Would putting Ivermectin behind her ears along side the current antibiotics and pain medicine be okay or should I wait until the antibiotic/UTI situation is resolved? I do want to treat both pigs together to resolve it & also don't want to put them through skin scraping as it's mentioned as painful.
I appreciate any advice in advance.
