I am considering placing our 2x6 on a cube stand. I wonder how sturdy it would be. I have a very active 2 year old son who I have seen on top of the cage as it sits now. Actually the cat and dog have been on top as well. There has been no problems there with stabilty though. We have a very active home. Curious as to anyone' s experiences with the grids being used as a stand.

Grids used as a stand works wonderfully! Just make sure that you put grids on the bottom of the cage, and for added stability you can put them on the back and bottom (floor) of the support. (Sorry if this isn't too clear--see my pictures if you're confused at all! It's a bit difficult to explain.)

argh! i know how to do this, but i can't explain! OK, i'll give it a try, so, ok, you know how the grids we buy are meant to be made into cubes? so basically make 4 cubes at the 4 corners of yoy cage (if you made it rectangular or square, put them everywhere needed to insure stability if you didn't) and a couple in the middle and on the sides if it is a medium to big cage, and have the cubes be like part of the cage, right off the walls, a continuation of the walls, not seperate. be sure to make them very, very stable 'cause you don't want your cage to fall or anything. you also moght not need the whole cube, i do that for stability, but most people just do the two outside walls, and, obvuously, the top, since that is holding the cage. for the ones in the middle, just build cubes or like cubes without the top and/or bottom ( if you do this, be sure to have the sid(s) without the grids be the botton if you have one off, and the top and botton if you have two sides off, that way, it doesn't collapse) and put them under the cage.

Sorry for the long post, did you get the idea thoug? I think there's a couple of pictures in the picture gallery

Yup, kavykritter's right

There might be a picture on the packaging of your cubes showing how you use them for organizational cubes... basically build that under your cage, you can combine the two using the connecters so it isnt a cage and a stand, but a cage with a stand. You can build the cubes under it in a few different directions, but it's usually best if you build it in a set up so that you can use all the space in the stand as organizational cubes for piggy things, you can even make boxes out of coroplast to fit as sliding bins in the stand if you want (i know there are some really cool ideas for stands in the photo galleries if you want to check those out).

Hope I helped?
Tina
