Does anyone have plans for building a cage base/stand from leftover grid pieces? We were going to use the coffee table that we were going to give away, but my daugter likes to use it to pull herself up on.

Our cage base is made from left over grids...check it out....

This is an old version of the cage but it shows the stand and how we use to store supplies.

This is our modified, easier to clean cage. I shows how we hide the the stand and the supplies.

How sturdy is it? Did you make a grid "top" for the base as well?

I made a grid top for mine, check it out on my photo page (click on the link next to MY PHOTOS). =)

Well, I opted out of using grids for the base because I ran out of connectors and the design seemed wobbly without them. Instead, I'm using a very sturdy coffee table that my wife and I were going to get rid of anyway and there is room underneath for storage.

Ok, sounds great. I just used top, bottom, side, back, and all grids for mine, and it's plenty stable.

Like you did for MNCavylover, click on the My Photos link and you will see the different doors I have. I made a top out of the grids because I have a dog who would love to do more than look at the GP's. There are a few pictures that show my accordian doors. These are part wall and part lid that lift up. Let me know if you would to know how I did it.

Good Luck!

I love your cage, as I have said before, DaCourt!

hi,
i also use the grids as the stand. you can check out my cage by clicking on my name and then going to my photos. hope this helps.

I have a 2x4 and a 2x3 on grid stands. After I hooked it together with the connectors, I used cable ties all over it to make sure it was stable. I can move the entire stand and cage easily to clean behind and under it. It is much easier than moving the cage off a table all the time. The grids under also make a nice storage area for supplies.

Thanks mncavylover. Yours is cool too. I just wish we had more space. But for now, they are happy. Thank God I am not taller or we could be looking at a 4 story. vbmenu_register("postmenu_15158", true);

That would be funny! Four-story condo for pigs... too cute. Cali is known for high cost-of-living, though, and I like how you use the space. Even though you have a small space, you still have a great setup.
