I’ve just installed the Full Cheeks gravity food dish.
Does anyone have any thoughts on it?
Do you think it would promote overeating?

I find my pigs aren’t much inclined to overeating. 1/2 cup of food (1/4 cup each) usually lasts 2 days, as they prefer fresh veg and hay over dried pellets. I was hoping it would keep their uneaten food a little fresher and cut down waste. I tend to toss uneaten food when I clean their cage, as they poop in their bowl.

I’d love thoughts.

I know my guys would overeat. They would eat pellets and vitamin c cookies all day if they could.

I would also be worried about the bowl getting dirty (poop) or being knocked over. It could also attract bugs. I don’t leave any pet food sitting out since my pets stick to meals and aren’t free fed.

The bowl is attached to the wall of the cage, so it can’t be knocked over.
It’s also about 2” off the floor, so poop doesn’t get in. …that was a biiiig problem with the old bowl, lol.

I’ve always free fed my piggies. A set amount, yes, but the bowl always stays in the cage.
The reason is, I have adhd. If I tried to stick to a schedule, they would never get fed. So there is a measuring cup for a daily portion of pellets, the bowl stays in the cage, and they can eat as much hay as they want.
I’ve just switched to the 10lb full cheeks box and I like it. It’s cut so the hay comes out in nice tidy portions, and I can get it delivered.

(I’ve ordered from a farm before, but the one and only time I did that, I had a moth infestation within a week)

Ok I can see now where it's anchored. I was looking at it on my phone before. I would be concerned with poop and bedding getting in there. Are you pretty good at keeping an eye out for anything in their food and refreshing it?
