What is the right temp for a piggie to go out side and have some play time???

Around 70 degrees. No less than 65 and no more than 75.

In celcuis that is 21 degrees. No more than 25 degrees and no less than 18 degrees.

Many Ontarioans don't use celcius, by the way (as nice of you as it is to include it Slap)

I just had to explain to our "Quebecers" at work today that really, it's mostly young people that use celcius over here. At work all of my checks are done in farenheit, to the confusion of my Quebecer co-workers. They ususally respond with "42? What the ...... is that in normal numbers, eh?"

Arn't they called Quebeca's? (sp) (Kay-Bey-Quas)

A good system to go by is if you're comfortable in a t-shirt, than they should be ok. Like slap said, 65 minimum to 75 maximum. If you want to take them out in cooler temperatures (ONLY 60-62 min.) I put a blanket against the play pen/run to prvent chills. I also give them some hay to snuggle with. If you want to take them in temperatures a bit higher (ONLY 76-80 max.), you need to provide them with enough water and a cooling pad. I find a small dog cooling mat from Petmsart or Petco does fine. They look like this:
But whatever you do, ALWAYS bring them inside if they look uncomfortable.

"Quebecer" is an affectionate Ontarioan term for someone from Quebec. Quebecios (with a couple of accents I don't know the ASCII codes for) is the correct term.

Could be worse. The owner calls them (and of course this is edited for sensitive eyes) Flipping Frenchmen (even though one is not French. He was born in Quebec but his family is Italian)

Sabriel ,we do use celcuis alot more than fahrenheit(SP).And thanks everyone for they help(my piggies will just have too wait untill its warmer!!!!!!!!!)

I have a question about heat. What does everyone do in the summer when it gets really hot? Here its get to be in the 90's and up. How do you keep them cool?????

You can have a fan in the room - not blowing directly onto the cage, just around it. You can have a little brick patio in the cage, so that they can lie on it. Or, fill up a water bottle with water and stick it in the freezer. Take it out and drape a towel around it and then put it into the cage. The pigs can lie next to if they are hot

It really depends on your age and what part of Ontario you are from. My Mother and Grandmother are much better at the imperial method of things then the metric method. Also if you live near the border and recieve American TV stations instead of Canadian then you are much more likely to use farenhiet.

That's why most things in Canada (meat, temp, packaging) state both, since we are in a transitional period. At work I have to be able to use both as we have a alot of older Canadains working in management and some of our products go to the states but all of the "floor" workers use celcius.

So when we our generation grows old almost all of Canada will be using nothing but metric. But the border areas and anyone who comes from them will be stuck in a strange type of limbo.

Take me for example. I feel more comforable using farienhiet. I know my weight better in pounds and I have no clue how many centimeters tall I am. But I weigh everything else in grams. I also use centimeters for measurement but I had to learn imperial in college (in Toronto not Windsor) becuase designers still use imperial.

I just think it's funny that many people assume all Canadian can only use metric when the older two generations see it as some new fangled way of confusing them.
