I was combing Dagwell and trimming his rat-tail thing he has going on and I noticed he is starting to get grey hair under neath his agouti parts. Is it normal for older pigs to go grey? NOt that it matters, just an observation.

Hi:

Yes, it is. A friend mentioned to me the other night how one of her GP's is also going gray. I guess they are like all other animals and us.

It's probably an old age thing, it can happen in hamsters too.

Yes, Furlong had a couple of grey hairs when I got him. Now, he has got several more and when you pet him the wrong way, you can see lots of grey roots

I'm starting to think Dagwell was older than I originally though he was when I got him. I thought he was like 1 or 1 and 1/2 but now I think he was like 2 or 2 and1/2 so that means he's almost 3 years old! Cool.

Yeah... the rescue said that Furlong was 1-2 years old, but by the look of the grey hairs he has, he may be older.

FYI, you can usually tell how old they are by the color of their front teeth. The whiter they are, the younger they are! I actually thought Charlie was older than he is when I got him, but when the vet got a look at how white his teeth are, she told me there's no way he's more than a year old.

Is there proof for that? I have never heard of that before, not even on guinea lynx

It's what my vet said.
