A friend of mine has 2 boars. The only thing is, they are not together. She said she won't put them together because they fight. She described pure dominance behavior that should be expected when introducing to boars. I talked to her about it, and she said she would introduce them again tomorrow. Something tells me that the first sign of fighting she will give up. I just feel so bad for those little piggies, who don't even get to see each other when they want to be together. When one hears the other he starts wheeking for him. What can I do about this? I don't think they even get Vit.C, other than the occasional lettuce leaf that she gives like, i don't know, once a month! She won't listen to what I say, because she's had 5 guinea pigs and thinks she knows more than me and won't take my advice. She won't even get them a C&C cage, because it "wouldn't look right in her room" It angers me so bad, what can I do? >(

I know how you feel, when I try to help my friend with their guinea pig she brushes it off. I even offered her my old c&c cage, but didn't want it, even though her pig is in a pet store cage. Every time I suggest something she basically says they're happy how they are. I know they mean well, but I wish I could do more. Maybe you could help her with the introductions, they can be scary-during mine I was bawling my eyes out.
Keep trying-maybe start with little things you can help her with :)

Okay, thanks. Just wondering, why exactly where you crying?

Benjamin was mounting Squint, and Squint (my baby) kept running away and was stuck in the corner crying and screaming and shaking. I felt so bad that I had done that to him.

Suggest that she read Guinea Pigs Social Life. The Introductions section is about halfway down. On it, Teresa says she's successfully introduced more than 100 pairs together, and only had one failure.

Thanks for the help guys. -And I'm really sorry Squint- I found out to day that one had bit the other and she had to take them to the vet. She said that they do play nice during floor time though...so maybe she just doesn't want them to be together unsupervised? As for the other stuff, I gave her a good talking to and she now gives her pigs lettuce, cilantro, and bell pepper every single day! And she is collecting materials to build a C&C cage!! Yay!! :D
