They are anywhere from 4 weeks- 1 1/2 years. The couple's names are Alfred and Herman. They are two skinny pigs who have to be adopted together..

Are you going to adopt some?

I was on petfinder and it pulled up the skinny pigs for my area too. I was reading that one of them was sick and they weren't sure he would make it. Am I to assume that he did and he's ready for adoption now? I wonder, I have severe allergies to guinea pigs - that's why mine are now living with my sister and her two pigs (the four of them love it together). Do you think a skinny pig would bother me - no hair.

Skinny pigs do have a little hair on them. Baldwins don't have any hair, and I doubt they would give you allergies. The only place I would expect to find a baldwin is a breeder. You might hang out with a skinny pig or baldwin and see if your allergies flare up.

aww..how cute. Where is this rescue at. I am in PA as well and may want to adopt in the future and am not sure of any in my area. I am in Carlisle area--about 20 miles south of Harrisburg.

I am looking to adopt. The skinny pigs were said to just be malnourished or something but they were treated and ready for adoption..

Aww cool NewGP- I live in harrisburg!

Are they from the Hatboro rescue? I'm not particulary fond of them. I contacted them about a guinea pig and when I emailed them asking when to pick him up they never responded. A few months later we find out he got adopted, which royally sucked. I will try adopting from them in the future but at this moment I can't reccomend them.

Wow, that sucks dagwell.

Did you fill out an application? That is usually the first step. Rescues are run and manned by volunteers who have busy lives, and sick animals usually. Sometimes you have to email again or wait. They try to keep the websites up to date, but it isn't always possible. They have computer savy volunteers running the sites too and there are never enough of those.

Yeah I filled out the application, I emailed twice, waited for weeks, then gave up.

Actually, one of the skinny pigs (Herman) has a "tilt head" disease. They are trying to take care of it, and it has gotten better, however, he still has the infection. They tell you all about it on petfinder. They say that he seems to be in good spirits and not in pain, so they aren't going to put him down. They are going to let him be adopted, however, he must stay with the other pig and he is being listed as a "special needs" pig. Whoever adopts him has to have an exotics vet lined up and understand that he may need regular vet care for the rest of his life. His story is sad and it just makes your heart melt for him. They really are too cute, even though they have no hair!
