Found a site I wasn't happy with...

I don't even have the energy to tackle the CRAP on that site- this time it is someone else's turn.

LOL! I know what you mean Slap! Some of the info on there is just too unbelievable!....<sigh>.....

At least of you look at the blue box at the bottom it is better...it tells about guinealynx and corrects much of their wrong info.

Yes, I did notice that. I wonder who put it up and how they managed to contact the owner. I couldn't find any info on that.
I'm happy to see that someone is putting up correct info on the site...it's just too bad that it's all the way at the bottom of the page. First time I looked at the site, I didn't go through the whole thing. I got too upset reading all the prior, incorrect info to go all the way to the end of the page.

Oh, that's nice. I couldn't finish reading the whole thing. I just skimmed it, saw that awful cage and exercise ball part. They still should do something about the rest of it.

I noticed they said to feed potato as a treat. I thought they were really bad for guinea pigs?

Yes, I believe on the nuitrition page and in several different threads, potatoes are a veggie that should never be given to pigs.

I see they have changed a bit of their previous information to correct it, but I am still unimpressed with that site because I feel they promote breeding instead of discouraging it.

The cavy one looks like there are at least some improvements, but some of the hamster comments make me sick!
One person said he hamster died of constipation(so you never thought of taking it to a vet), and they let a hamster go into the woods to starve, dehydrate, be eaten by a predator, or God knows what else!
Another doesn't even know what SPECIES her hamster is!
Yet another person figured giving a hamster a bath is enough to get rid of fleas!
Excuse me while I go vomit.

She said that Celery is poisonous too, I have never heard that. I have heard that they can choke on celery though, there is a big difference. I give mine celery but I cut off the edge with the long stringy bits so they don't choke.

Celery is ok for pigs. It's not something you want to feed everyday though. Cut it down into smaller pieces like 1-2" and you're doing the right thing by removing the strings. Pigs can choke on them. It has a fair amount of oxalic acid in it. I usually don't go out of my way to feed celery to my pigs. If I buy it to cook with, they will get a bit of it and all the leaves but other than that, I just don't bother with it.

What about the celery leaves (Also, coriander?)?

Celery leaves are fine every other day, and coriander can be fed every day.

All I know is that I'm SO glad I found this site first. WHEW!!! Maybe they'll get a clue and correct their information.

Imagine the guy who wrote the site's pigs! UH OH, BILLY!

Excuse me for my language but that site pisses me off. And you're not supposed to have guinea pigs and a cat. Or breed piggies.

I have piggies and a cat! In fact TWO cats and they are so kind to my piggies!

I guess that book wasn't right =\ Sorry about that!

Oh, it's ok! I guess SOME kitties might be a bit mean and... try.. to uhh... EAT them.

"Another option as a companion for a guinea pig is a rabbit - particularly dwarf rabbits because they are similar in size"

About that, they can be housed together. I did it for a while and my pig and bunny would play together. I thought it was a good idea if you didn't want another guinea pig (in my case i got on cuz it was the last piggie left and they had a butt load of bunnies)
