SORRY. But i have another question about the pellet foods. THe place that sells oxbow was closed today since it is a sunday. My dad and I went to petco and I saw a pellet food with timothy hay in it. It is made by KAytee. SO i was wondering if that would work to. Here are the ingredients Sun-cured Timothy Grass Hay, Wheat Middlings, Ground Wheat, Oat Hulls, Dehulled Soybean Meal, Dehydrated Alfalfa Meal, Dried Cane Molasses, Salt, Dicalcium Phosphate, Calcium Carbonate, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (source of vitamin C), DL-Methionine, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Vitamin A Supplement, Choline Chloride, Ferrous Carbonate, Riboflavin Supplement, Manganous Oxide, Zinc Oxide, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Ethoxyquin (a preservative), Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (source of vitamin K activity), Copper Oxide, Cholecalciferol (source of vitamin D3), Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Biotin, Folic Acid, Calcium Iodate, Dried A. oryzae Fermentation Extract (source of protease), Dried Bacillus coagulans Fermentation Product, Dried Bacillus licheniformis Fermentation Product, Dried Bacillus subtilis Fermentation Product, Cobalt Carbonate, Sodium Selenite.

ANd again I am sorry for this post , I was just wondering.

It has a lot of extra stuff in it and that makes it has extra fat. If I were you I would get oxbow right away when the store opens. Good Luck, PooH.

Pellets aren't that urgent, so I'm sure you can wait till the store opens. I would'nt recommend using those pellets

Ethoxyquin is a deadly preservative, deffinatly do NOT give these pellets to your pig.

Ok thanks you guys, I was just wondering since they had Thimothy hay in them I thought they would be good. I guess it is good I didn't buy them.

I have another question. Is there any other food besides Oxbow that is good for guinea pigs?

bubbleguine, I learnt the hard way. I just bought those same pellets the other day and found out it is bad for them! Your lucky you didn't. Im just curious what store did you find that actually sells Oxbow pellets? I can't find them anywhere and I'm really not into ordering things online since I dont have a credit card and I know my mom would be against it because she thinks I spend way too much money on my gp's. I would also like to know what other pellet food is good for them besides Oxbow...good question!

Ummm, my local vet sells them. Yeah I just want someone to tell me what other pellets are good for them besides Oxbow. I truely don't know and am still wondering. I to think my mom would not let me order the food offline, since I do not have a credit card.

Oxbow are really the only good pellets out there. KM sells proform pellets, they too are good but they are alfalfa based and since pigs only require a very small amount of pellets a day (1/8-1/4 cup per day) then the proform would be ok for adults and there are many people on gl that feed the proform to adults. But those too have to be ordered online.

Call around your area to see if any vets carry the oxbow.

go to oxbows website and they will tell you all their retailers in your area

Try the yellow pages ( a great invention) and look up feedstores, call them and ask if they have Oxbow.

Ya I tried that today, calling pet supply stores. The lady basically laughed at me on the phone like I had made it up or something. It was pretty funny, anyways I am going to try and call more stores tomorrow.

I know where they sell oxbow, it is just a pain out of my parents life to run my down there to get it. SO i was just wondering if like a pet store would sell a different brand that is good for them.

I know the one I have for them can't be that good for them because they eat it like candy! I just can't stand listening the little one squeal for more, so I cave in and give him more...im such a sucker.

I finally got the oxbow pellets!!!!!!! Yey for me!

I am glad you got oxbow for your piggies finally. You may need to mix a very small amount of what they have been eating in with the oxbow and cut the old stuff back more and more each day. If they don't want to eat the oxbow, don't give up. Pellets aren't the most important thing in a pigs diet anyways.

Rememeber though that with the proper veggies and hay each pig only needs 1/8 to 1/4 cup of pellets per day. Once they run out, don't give more until the next day. If they start squeaking, give them a handful more of hay or a leaf or two of yunmy lettuce instead of more pellets.

I just got Oxbow pellets as well my vet orders it for me now! However I mixed it with the old pellets and they won't even touch the old ones, they like the Oxbow better. So it was very easy to get them to eat it!
