I am going to be adopting a 5 month old mom and a 5 week old baby guinea pig soon. What kind of dry food should we be giving them? I know that oxbow is the best so should we give them cavy performance or cavy cuisine? or a mix of both? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Since they are under a year, you should feed the alfalfa based ones - Cavy Performance.

The baby will still need them when the older ones hit one year of age, so you can do a mix or put the alfalfa in an area that the older one can't get to or something like that.

I had that 'problem' and I put the pellets in the loft where the older one wouldn't go, but then he figured it out and liked the loft, so I did a mix.

I agree, since the mother gave birth recently and both are under a year, feed them Cavy Performance.

Once the mother gets to be a year old, continue with the same pellets (or a mix of both) and timothy hay until the baby reaches one year. Then you can just use cavy cuisine. Hope this helps, and congrats on adopting your new cavies! Hope it all goes well!
