Food has been discussed many times on this forum, but its always in a muddle of posts, etc. Lets make a concise chart for confused people such as me and other new owners.

]Lets make a chart that has 3 columns. A, B, and C.
A Column: veggies to be given every day
B Column: fruits and veggies that can be added/substituted for variety about 2-4 times a week
C Column: fruits and veggies that can be given occasionally as treats, etc

Please send your ideas for each of these categories. if an item has already been said, try not to repeat it, or my small brain will be very confused. ill take everyones suggestions, then draft a chart. ill post the chart, we can make revisions, and then well compile a final list. Sound good?

all right, send them in!

anybody? i think this list would be really helpful if we did it properly.

hmm I don't know....

yep I think it would be helpful too, i am just too lazy lol!

No ideas???? ok, ill start:

A: romaine, red peppers

B: baby carrot, italian parsely

please keep adding!

um.. let me think..

A: dandelion greens(u can pick them EVERYWHERE), celery
B: Cucumber
C: Water melon, apple, pear

A -->Cilantro (same as coriander)
B -->Kale
C -->Orange

I had no idea that cilantro was the same as coriander...wow, I learned something new today! lol

A: Romain (2-4 leaves), Red Pepper (1/4 or 1/8 slice), Tomatoe (1 slice), Carrots (2-3),
B: Parsley/Cilantro (2-4 stems), Orange (1 slice), plum (1/4 of it), Celery (half a stalk or 1/4 of a stalk), Spinich (2 leaves once or twice every week), Apples (1/4 or 1/2), Banana (1-2 small slices)
C: Water Melon, pears, strawaberries, peaches, Cantelope.

Can't think of many more right now....

The carrots should go in the B column. loves2travel: A column should be veggies that CAN be given every day.

loves2travel here is the list so far (a few revisions and additions by me)

A: Red Pepper, Green Pepper, Gold Pepper, Tomatoes, Lettuce (any kind other then iceberg), Cilantro, Parsly, Dandelions, Celery, Mustard Greens, Collard greens, Zuccini, Squash, Cucumber

B: Carrots, Bok-Choi, Pak-Choi, Cabbage, Spinich

C: Any fruits they can have. Oranges, Bannanas, Lemon, Limes, Melons, Pears, Strawberries, Peaches, Cantelope, Apples etc.

That is all i can think of right now. I think these are all in the right catagories. I think B and C is right and have the right foods in them but some of A's may need to go to B but I don't think so.

ok, we can do it this way and make some guidelines for the chart.
such as (but please revise because i know this maybe wrong):
Give your pig at least 4 items from the A column every day.
Twice to thrice a week, you can serve choices from the b column.
Give choices from the c column rarely.

with these guidelines, apples should be moved to 'B'

lol...thrice! I haven't heard that word used since shakespear! lmbo haha...just messin with you...because I can ;p

I would put apples in the C column cause they are a fruit and if you feed them to your pigs 2-3 (I am guessing that thrice si 3) they probably will get fat and apples have the starchy taste (starchy-comething like that). If you note next to the C column fruits can be feed once a week.

CavyCrazyMom: What word? I am so lost today.

HAHAHA...thrice...Thrice was the word...it struck me funny for some reason...lol Maybe because I'm super tired.

i heard apples could be given as treat about every other day or every third day. someone, corrrect me, or support me!

Huh well I always thought 1- 1 1/2 carrots (baby) for a piggy for one day was ok... Um I used to give my piggs like a small slice of apple every day....
There is just too many restrictions can't have this more than once a week, that only twice a week, and this only every other day. lol It is really quite hard to make a list lol.... Personally I think as long as it isn't a fruit or high in calcium I am sure it would not hurt them to have a tiny proportion of that veggy each day lol. But anyways I am to lazy to revise my list! =0)

Oh and parsley and cilantro as I have read on different forum should be given every other day because it is high in calcium. I may be wrong but this is what I have read and what people have told me. And if you do give it everyday it should be in moderation. I apologize if I am wrong lol but I just thought I should say what I heard lol.. Anyways loves2travel after the list is totally done etc, can I use it for my care guide?

I don't think cilantro is

Or have a lot of vitamin A in them like carrots do.
