I just cleaned my guinea pig's cage and he went to go eat in his food bowl and he put his feet on the bowl to eat. Then, the food bowl tipped over and pellets spilled everywhere! I have a ceramic bowl which I thought was very good for guinea pig food. Do you have any suggestions of a bowl you think works very well without the food spilling everywhere?

I use those cheap cat food dishes from Wal-Mart, the ones that are not even a $1 for the most part. You know, those ones with two square holes side by side, for food and water? My pigs never tip that thing over, when they try, it just slides. They are also not too deep, so it's not a strain on their neck when they reach into the food bowl.

The ONLY time I see it tipped is sometimes when I come in the morning and they are angry and want more food.

I used to have the same problem. Now I put the pellets in cheap generic pet bowls, the plastic kind with slopey sides. That way they can't tip when they stand on them. :)

Any suggestions for a hay bin? I'm using a cat litter box for the hay. While one of my pairs is fine with either eating from the sides or jumping right in, the other pair insists on putting their front feet on it and tipping it on its side so they can just stand there and eat while the hay spills everywhere.

We use a kennel bowl that you would latch/bolt onto a metal kennel for our pigs. It is partially broke, so it won't stay bolted to the dog kennel, but it tips forward just the way my pigs like. They can tip it over, because there is enough to bolt in onto their c&c cage. Mom like it because they can't poop in it (It's too small to get their wiggly butts in!).
