Most likely he's standing on the edge to eat and it's flipping. You need a heavy bowl with a large base and short sides for pigs. They don't have long necks so anything with much height they'll stand on to reach the food and if it isn't wide and heavy enough it will flip every time.

No I think you just need a new bowl. I have heavy ceramic ones that have never been flipped. My most expencive one that is twice as big as my others is a cat bowl that has a low edge but has room for the pigs to share. Very heavy. Only about $4. I also have a snake water dish that I cleaned up to use, it works very well.

I have one that is square and wider on the bottom. I got it at walmart for under $2.00. Mine is plastic but the pigs can stand on it all day and not tip it.
Good luck bowl shopping.

I've seen pigs put their nose under the bowl and flip it. The blue bowl in this picture is very light and it used to happen all the time. I didn't use that bowl for ages until recently and the pigs I have now don't flip the bowls. I agree with aqh88 about a heavy and shallow bowl, that's definately the best bowl shape to prevent flipping.

I need a new bowl too ... lately I'll come into the room and see the pellet dish moved way over out of its normal spot. I finally caught the culprit in the act -- PJ was dragging it with her little mouth. Why, I have no idea. Maybe it's a way to alleviate boredom. I guess when you don't have much to do all day you have to start coming up with creative ideas to entertain yourself! Chestnut might be doing it too but so far I've only caught PJ in action, my little rambunctious pigaroo.

I have one big one and they can't really flip it and it's nice for them. But I suggest like everyone else getting the ceramic ones. A lot easier.

I had this same problem with my piggie a while back- he would grab it with his teeth and toss it around! So I got a heavier bowl and he still managed to tip it over. So I started putting his food in one of those wooden curved toys for small animals to hide under. I had gotten it orginally for him when he was a baby but is much to big for it now. So I flipped it upside down and it was perfect to put his food in and then he could lay down half in it and munch on food.

My girls used to do that all the time too...then they would go to the bathroom in the food on the floor. My solution was I went to the dollar store and bought a $1 cat food dish. Its small, and the bottom is larger than the top so there is no way it can every we turned over. Its such an easy fix! Good luck with that :D

You could get a heavy, shallow cat bowl like this, its what I use White Stoneware Paw Print Bowl - Wal-Mart my piggys are really bad at tipping bowls and they never have tipped this one, they even pull it around there cage.
