Foam/Rubber Mats for Flooring?

I haven't been able to find cheap coroplast in my town. One place quoted me $60 for a full sheet.

So I was looking around for alternate materials, and found these:
Connect-A-Mat Colors

They're non-toxic, non-absorbent, soft, and chewable, but I doubt they'd taste good.

Are they safe to use?

Ehhh I think they would be expensive and hard to clean after a while as piggy pee (I think) tends to be a bit corosive and can get hard to clean off if they keep peeing in one spot. I recommend buying a tarp or a shower curtain and putting the grids on top of that. I am using a tarp right now and love it. It is cheap to replace and if you expand, change the cage, rearrange furniture or move as much as I do then this is great and much better arrangement. Easy to transport and clean as well as durable and able to protect the floors well...

Good ideas from above poster. Other ideas- cheap plastic tablecloths, and a favorite of mine for my summer/basement cage.. carpenter's heavy duty plastic garbage bags (found in Home Depot or any hardware store).

But what do I put on top of the tarp? Bedding, hay, what? No towels, newspaper?

Good one duffint. O yes bedding as in shavings, compressed wood or paper pellets wont work well with outsides. If you want to use disposible bedding then you HAVE to have coroplast or else everything will get everywhere. Fleece is the best bedding, its cute, reusable, cheap, soft, durable, etc... heres a few links...
