I have a guinea pig that I really love but she hasn't been getting much floortime lately. It's not because i'm too lazy to watch over her but it's just that I have two cats that i'm afraid might go after her. Also just recently my cats had fleas. We took care of the fleas but i'm afraid they might have gotten them back and I don't want my cavy to get them. My cats are not alowed in my room but I can't let my GP run free in there because I don't have a door for my room. Has anybody else had this experience? Does anybody have any ideas? If so PLEASE share them with me. I just want my GP to be happy. Thanks!

Obvisily your bathroom must have a door- do it in the bathroom. Put a cheap shower curtain down and set up floor time in there.

Also, your pig NEEDS a same sex or neutered companion. (www.petfinder.com) Adopt from a rescue or shelter.

What are you feeding your pig?

What cage size do you have?

Thank you I will look into getting a companion for my piggie!! I think my GP will like the bathroom idea!

Maybe you could put something in front of your bedroom door, like a big shelf or a cabinet on wheels or something. Your cats might be able to jump over, but they will not SEE your piggy in the first place, so maybe they won't even notice your piggy has his floor time!
I don't know how agressive your cats are though, but your cats can always jump over and attack, so make sure you are ALWAYS there to watch your pig, and sit at the entrance of your room so you can see your cats coming.
I know it would work out for me, because my cat actually grew up with guinea pigs, so she thinks she is one herself, but I don't know if it will work out for you!

I but my bean bag chair in front of the door at floor time. Its really handy so I don't have to set much up. Mabey you could find something like that to block off the door.

I'm a little confused. You said your cat that may or may not have fleas is not allowed in your room, but you don't have a door to your room. How are you keeping the cat out?
