Alright. I was advised to start a new thread regarding fleece bedding. I'm wanting to know how often you clean it and any other information any of you can think of that has to do with fleece bedding. As of now I am using towels. So if you can think of anything, please let me know.

There are many ways to use fleece. My personal favorite is fleece a layer of cotton batting then another layer of fleece. You can also just put fleece with bedding underneath. You have to hand vac the poos every day and change the fleece at least once a week and throw in the washing machine. You make two sets so you can switch them out.

My favorite way to use fleece is over wood pellets. You shake off the fleece every day to two days, and scoop out and replace the wet spots in the bedding and replace the fleece. Wash the fleece once a week, or as needed. Hope this helps!

I love using fleece. I put a layer of newspaper down first then cover it with the fleece. I sweep the poo each day, and do a total cleaning about every 4 days. Newspaper gets tossed, and the fleece gets shook well outside then put in the washing machine with detergent and vinegar...which really takes any smells out of the fleece. I too have 2 pieces of fleece, so that I can replace it right away after cleaning the cage.

I have a 2x4 C&C cage. 1 yard of fleece fit great in my cage. I didn't have to resize it at all, just folded the edges under a bit.

Could some one post a picture of their fleece cage?

I put puppy pads down underneath the fleece. I spotclean everyday. Even with velcro, the pigs crawl under it sometimes, but it doesn't hurt them or anything. Here's my cage right before I cleaned it out.

I also have strawberry printed fleece. =D

What do you mean by velco?

I guess TheQueen means sticking velcro to one side of the towel, and some to the coroplast so that the towel doesn't move about or get crumpled up when the pigs run around.

Yep, except you need to sew it to the fleece, otherwise it comes off in the wash (I learned the hard way). It sticks great to coroplast though.

They sell the velcro in strips or dots at many types of stores. I bought mine at Walmart, but they should have them at any fabric/sewing store. I've also seen the strips at Menards (hardware store).

Yeah that's what I meant. I bought mine at Walmart, but Joann's has it, as well as department stores and craft stores. It's pretty easy to sew, because you don't need to make it perfect. Just strong enough to survive the washing machine and the pigs. I sewed two blankies by hand in about 2hrs.

Ok so I sew the fleece to the towel?:?:

Sew the velcro to the fleece. You won't need towels if you use fleece along with something underneath it (like newspaper, puppy towels, etc).

OH! ha I see!

(broken link removed) how did you make that hay holder?

my gallery has a picture of fleece

amfeider, can you put the cotton batting in the washing machine, too, or does it need to be replaces frequently? I am considering fleece because buying Carefresh all the time is expensive! But I have a three level, 2x6 cage, so I am wondering what will be more of a chore, fleece or regular bedding...

Regular bedding would be more awkward for such a big cage. Not to mention the cost of buying so much CareFresh. Go with the fleece. The cotton batting can go in the washing machine, but I would recommend replacing it every 4 or 5 months, if it gets wet very often.

I agree! Carefresh is SO expensive!

It would seem in a 2x6 that care fresh would be more of a chore! Don't you think?!

Would you say that carpet is easier to clean? What about the pee? How did you potty train your wheekers? I love you cages By the way!
