I'm making a fleece liner for my 2x6 grid C&C cage, and I was wondering if this was right. I'm getting four yards of fleece (the top layer and the bottom layer) and 2 yards of zorb (the middle layer) does this sound right? Also, does anyone have any links to threads describing how to make liners?

By the way, is using fleece as complicated as everyone makes it seem? I'm starting to think I should just stick with carefresh. You have to wash it 10 times, sew it to an absorbent pad, wash it every four days, and in some cases it just doesn't work. Is this true? how does fleece work for you?

Fleece doesn't work in smaller cages. You don't have to keep using fleece if you try it and don't like it. You might want to try layering it in and not sewing anything for the first times you use it so you can test it and see if you like it (I'm not 100% this would work with zorb though..). If you find that it works well then you can sew it, but you don't have to, I never did.

I found that fleece worked very well, but because I am not allowed to wash it in my mother's washer I have switched to aspen shavings for the winter. In my 2x4 cage with two piggies I had to change the fleece more then you would with your 2x6 cage.

A lot of people say that their cages smelled worse with towels then with other things(like uhaul pads), so this could have also have added to the smell in my cage. :)

Here are some links to making cage liners:

There is a link in the last one that goes to instructions, just follow the one with the yellow pad and make it bigger.

EDIT: Here is where the link leads: Between the Rabbit's Ears: Guinea Pigs - Piggy Pillows and Pads

Hope this helps!
