I have a 1 3/4x7 cage and as you can imagine, it is VERY difficult and takes almost an hour and a half to scoop out all of the shavings, not to mention the ones I drop on the floor. My two boars are also VERY excited to finally have company, so they're kicking shavings all over the place. My question is, can I litter train my one year old boar anymore, or is it too late? And also, I was thinking of maybe beginning to use fleece, because it wouldn't be to messy, but how often do you have to clean it? Is it easy to use? I love how my pigs have the big cage, but it is a HUGE pain in the butt to clean. Any tips?

I really don't think it matters how old your piggie is to start litter training..Do you know how to do it?
And as far as fleece goes, i've heard a few people on here who have said they wash it once a week or so..depends a lot on how many piggies you have. I've also heard that it reduces smell...i'm not sure, i have yet to make mine as well, but it sounds brilliant to me.

Well, our nearby hobby lobby sells huge things of fleece for about ten dollars, so I figured I'd cut it and sow it to size my cage, but how do you keep it down? How is it used?

wow ten bucks..good deal!! I'm not sure how you keep it down..my guess though, would be that it would be heavy enough to hold itself down pretty good..concidering most people us fleece-batting-towel..i think lol, i can't remember what exactly what it was..but it sounds like it would be pretty heavy to me?

Thats what I use is fleece-batting-towel... and WOW! my little girl just loves it.. she sleeps on the fleece now instead of her cozy... i've had my fleece in there for a few days and there still is no smell... I have a litter pan for her to use (but she's still learning to use it) so all i do is take a little broom and dust pan and sweep up the poops everyday... then maybe once a week... take it outside and shake it out and throw it in the wash. I have heard some people use one of those little vacum things.. like a dust buster kind of thing that they use soley for the piggies cage... i think I;m going to try out that one soon

DocDolittle there are numerous threads on fleece and how it's used and how often to change it if you just do a search. I have answered about 20 fleece questions in the last couple of weeks.

I tried the search and I got the same thread time and time again.
