My huband and I want to either buy or build a Jumbo c&c. I was wondering how many yards of fleece would we need to cover the coroplast? I want it to go up and over the coro. I also want one side to be 12 inches.

Thank you for advice.

Depends on how big your cage is. How big is it? 2x6? 3x6?

The jumbo on the cage store is 6x2 with a 2x2 loft and thats what he wants to either build or buy. We really want our two boys to be happy and have lots of room.

Also any advice on cat proofing with a loft would be appreciated as we want to move our school room to the loft because it is bigger but dont want the piggies to be harmed by our cat and the loft doesnt have a door.

You should just put a roof on it if you want to cat proof it. The yards of fleece, I always like to get extra fleece just in case. So maybe 8 to 10 yards. That might be a lot but I like getting extra.

Ok. After I asked I thought about putting sides on the cage and making it even with the loft then just adding a roof. I think that might work.

Callie listens as long as I am there and would leave them alone but without a door I cant always be in the same room so she would probably hurt them. Though when mice came inside I got the impression she was just trying to play with them but she did kill them. So I would never chance it. Plus to them she probably smells like a threat.

yeah. Well hope it works. Try to post pictures if you can please! I would love to see the cage!

I will we have to buy it still but we should order it within the week. Our cage is kind of pathetic right now. But it will be so much better.

Are the store bought ones with roofs? I personally would build it myself, instead of buying...i think it would be alot cheaper and then you can personalize it anyway you want.

With the cat, I have introduced mine to my dogs EXTREMELY carefully and it still almost got bad, not because they were aggressive towards my piggies, but because they don't realize how big they are. Their version of playful can and sometimes will kill your little bundle of joy. But, my guineas live upstairs and the dogs generally stay downstairs, so as long as I keep my door shut and their piece of the room closed off, they're always fine. I definately reccomend giving them a whole room. It makes it a lot easier to keep everything where it should be, including living everythings. I had a little boy sneak out once but he actually ended up shut out of his cage because he couldn't climb back up, he got into the corner where I stored the hay, I walked in at about 3 that morning to him crying for me to put him back. He still tries escapes every once in a while... Moral of the story: close them off in more ways than just the cage if you can. You might be really glad you did...
