Grids Finally getting a bigger cage!!

In exchange for babysitter my siblings my mom has finally agreed to get me some storage grids so I can make my pigs a 2x5 or 3x4 cc cage!! They are the safe grids with 9 squares across! She is ordering them from amazon today!! btw I need to know how to make fleece wick. Would hot water, distilled white vinager, and borax work?? Also can I air dry the fleece?

Multiple washings in hot water till it wicks. Just be sure when you wick test you have an absorbent underneath it or you won't see proper wicking. I used a little bleach in each of mine and took about 3 washings. I did air dry mine the first time and they dried very quickly. Good luck and have fun building. I love building and "remodeling" the boys C&C cage.

That's fabulous! Congrats! To prepare the fleece, you'll need to wash it in hot water at least three times. I just used fragrance-free detergent and NO fabric softener. Never use fabric softener or dryer sheets. Make sure you wash and dry three times. I'm not sure about the air drying...don't know if you need that extra heat in drying to help prep the fleece. If anything, it'll slow down the prep process by a bit.

Post pics of your cage when you get it put together!! In the meantime, do you have your coroplast?

I am going to use a tarp for underneath the fleece and towels. And my dad always uses dryer sheets. Thats why I am considering air drying for the fleece. I would do it outside in the warm sun.

I might even ask my dad to get them a fleece forest instead of pokemon cards when I graduate from the 8th grade!!

That would be awesome and they are actually very easy to make if you have extra grids and fleece strips. My 9 year old just made one for the boys, I'll take a pic and post it for you to see how it was done.

There will be just enough grids for a 2x5 or 3x4 cage! I am so happy right now!!! It will be so great to see them popcorning and doing zoomies around their new cage!! The grids will be here sometime next week! That will give me plenty on time to wick their fleece! they also chewed a hole in their current fleece blanket. Would it be possible to patch it up with some fleece scraps?

Your dad isn't going to want the fleece washed with the regular family laundry. Just don't put a dryer sheet in when you're drying the fleece.

There are tons of DIY tutorials on pintrest and also through google. As for the hay bag, I dont' use a hay bag I use a shallow small plastic storage box for their hay since they love to sit in it and eat lol

Grids are 14 inches square. You do the math.

Ok. So I have miscalculated. Instead of a 2x5 or 3x4 my pigs will get a 2x6 or 3x5 Which is even better!!!

the tarp would have to be at least 44"x56"

Edit: for a 2x6 it would need to be at least 28"x84" and for a 3x5 at least 44"x74"

It's wonderful that you're upgrading! I bet your piggies will love their new cage! My boys started popcorning the moment I put them in, they were so happy. Getting a bigger cage really does improve their happiness and health.
