my friend just got a new baby piggy. the only problem is that it's in a store bought cage (she got it for free from a neighbour) though the cage is OK while she's small, i really want to get her a coroplast cage for christmas. however, my friend doesn't want me to spend that much mula on her. But because i'm the sort of "co-owner" i feel responsible to get a big enough cage. I'm feeling sortof stuck (but i guess i could just by the cage anyways) do any of you guyz have ideas?

Well try to get some of those political signs for free from the election (some of them are pretty big), that will cut down on the coro cost. And wait till cubes go on sale again at target. And then just make a 2x3 or 2x4 cage.

Could you not say that you had left over supplies just laying around, etc. And that she is doing you a favor by helping to clear a space in your loft, garage, etc. :)

what sized cage does she have?

Yeah, I agree with Furkidsmommy. I would just go ahead and make one. If she bring up the cost just make up an excuse, like you had extra supplies or something.

lol, sure! (at least if she sees through it what's she going to do anyway?) her cage is a store bought, but in cube sizes i'm guessing it's one by two cubes, which is wayy too small.

Ya, i've given up on the idea of the coroplast or cubes going on sale (hmm, unless it's one of thoes sales where you can get 20% off on any item in the store. I just don't want to wait that long)

Is she taking good care of it? Can she get it a buddy? Hay/pellets/veggies ok? If not, well, then that's not good in and of itself. Make the cage by all means, but work on other things, too.

oh ya, she read up on them and everything! feeds the little girl all the hay Pearl wants gives lots of veggies, cleans the cage regularily and plays with her everyday, but she just got her and it took her forever to convince her parents to get her. It would be really great if she could get a buddy but i'm not sure if her parents would let her.

Ok, that's great. I was just making sure. Does she get cavy performance pellets? Also, you can print off www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm to show her parents. I hope she can get it a buddy!

i don't know what her pellets are called, but they do have the right amouts of everything (i found a table in a book that told the percentages of ingreadients that should be present in gp food. so i'm sure the pellets are okay)

Books aren't always right, but... ok. I know that all the foods I've looked at have had icky ingredients except for Oxbow's. See www.guinealynx.com for more info, it's in the reference thread.

I'm not quite sure what kind of pelets they sell around here. But i'm not sure they sell thoes. Anyway, i might see my friend today so i can check.

Ok, that's great! Thanks, GuineasGalore.
