My first thought was also could I live there? What a gorgeous piggy place you have made! Wow I do love it. I can't wait to see who will be living there. Great job!

ladycavies, I can't wait either!

You can see a list of a few of the potentials here: Petfinder list

We've fallen in love with little Joan. Tiramisu & Godiva won't be coming home to us because we have young children. There are a few more not listed, including a pair of boars, and she may have more in by mid July!

Sorry for the little tangent there... thanks for the compliment on my cage set-up so far!

How neat! I do know which guinea pigs you are talking about. I looked into Vision Hills rescue before getting a pair from a woman on craigslist who could no longer care for them. I'm happy Joan is getting a new home!

Yes, the wood blocks would be good and ceramic tiles are nice and cool to lie on for guinea pigs. I think someone else said bricks too. But maybe your new piggie won't try to burrow, you never know.

I just love those names Tiramisu and Godiva. Sweet! I hope that pair finds a good experienced piggie-parent. I just know they can be brought out of their shells.

Sarah_atx, I'm not sure if we will foster Joan or not. We'll have to wait and see who is available come July and who the rescue thinks would benefit from our fostering. They said since we have 4 young kids we can help to socialize some of the guinea pigs that need some socialization to help make them more adoptable! So excited!

Cogni, we're definitely brand new to the world of guinea pigs, but learning as much as we can! I hope we can learn to be good a foster family and help provide some guinea pigs a good home while they wait for their forever families! Have you met Tiramisu and Godiva?

Thanks for the link. Joan is just darling. And spayed already. Wow! What a wonderful rescue organization. I know they will send you just the right piggies!

I am very jealous of your cage. It is so nice! Your foster piggies will be so happy to have come to stay with you.

About the litter box...I think I have that same exact one for one of my cages. It works really well to use the litter boxes as hay holders. Since the pigs "go" where their food is, they do most of their business in the litter box - which makes cleaning much easier.

sdpiggylvr, thank you! Do you put anything under the hay in your litter pan? If they are doing their business in the hay, doesn't that soil their hay? Do you have to constantly remove peed on, pooped on hay? Or just once a day?

I may just have to have a hay pan instead of a hay rack for now as I have run out of grids. I ended up elevating the whole cage using the extra grids I had.

I've attached an updated photo of the new penthouse suite! lol I also went out and got a brick for under the water bottle. As you can see, the cage is near a window. It is also partially blocking a closet door, so I think I will move it to another spot in the room.
