was wondering how safe fabreze was around piggies.

i know the company claims it is safe for pets, but just wondering if anyone else uses it.

it would be in the same room as the piggies (but sprayed only when they are out of the room).

any thoughts are welcomed...

anyone? please let me know any thoughts. thanks

I would imagine that it's ok. As long as the piggie isn't able to inhale any of it, but if you take it out of the room when you spray like you said, that shouldn't be an issue.

I don't even consider it good for humans so I definitely wouldn't want it used around my pigs! It's potent stuff which you can tell by the smell it leaves. If things need washing, then wash them - don't spray them with chemicals. There's increasing concern about the effect on our health of the amount of air/ fabric freshener products used in the home.

But if you are going to use it, I'd definitely not have them in the room - and air things out well before they come back in. They're so much more sensitive than us, and if there's concern over their safety for humans, I'd consider pets a great risk, even if the consensus is that they're fine.

I agree with Treen... I wouldn't even use it around myself, much less my animals!! Plus, I happen to know that that company tests its products on animals. I would try to find a natural foods store and purchase some pet-friendly products. Try Trader Joes, Sunflower, Whole foods or wild oats. I don't know where you live, but you might find some of those stores if you live out west.

~I was just wondering for what purpose (I love that word, purpose purpose , wait am I even spelling it right? o_O oh well) are you using the fabreze , like what sort of smells are you covering up?

I use The Allergen Fabreze all the time, it's great for our allergies.
We live in an old house, and you can't wash the house to get any smell out. It's fine to use. If you want to use it go ahead. There is a current discussion about this on Guinea Lynx. I personally wouldn't say she is using it to "cover up" anything. There are smells in houses that you just can't get out. We use it on curtains, couches, dog beds, carpet, anything that can hold smells. We also use Nutra Air. Neither have strong smells, but they do smell fresh.

Personally I don't do this, but my boyfriend's parents used it on their dogs and cats when they start to smell a little bad. I felt so bad for the poor things I just offered to give them a bath.

like mentioned above, its just used to freshen up "house" smells. my house is clean (or it better be after cleaning it once a week). so this isnt my method of covering up dirty things (i hate that people assume that).

i was just wondering if others use it.

and this is not to cover the smells of the guinea pigs or their cage, just the carpets in my house.

why would they spray it on their dogs and cats. Thats rude and also their fur gets greasey and matted if not given a bath. If my dog starts to smell I bathe her. I bathe her once a month day before each holiday and special comings. She loves to smell and feel clean but hates baths.

~I'm sorry!! I was just wondering. Ugg I REALLY dont like smelly carpets!!(im sorry but I can relate to that =S...at this one house...anyway, haha) I have this thing about using air fresheners and sprays though now. I don't think it's really good for them but I dont think it will be too bad if you only use it once in a while. too me its kinda like using ceader shavings...they smell great to us but it's not good for them.
