Eye level to "Peanut the Great"

So, I put a second level on my C&C cage. Just a little 1 x 2 with fleece to put their igloo up there, so the bottom would be more open for their climbing toys and running. It's an open top cage. So, last night I'm leaning over to put a bowl of veggies in the bottom and I feel eyes and I look to my left onto the top level and Peanut is sitting there with his head stretched out staring right at me, not 2 inches away. He's giving me this look like "Ha! Now I am as big as you! Put my food down woman." I think he is enjoying being at my level a little too much! He sits up there like a king and squeaks at people as they go by and wiggles his butt. He is something else.

Yep. All cages should have a second level. Its great when they are on your level. Its a whole new world for them. It also helps with those very shy ones. Now that they are on the same level with you they are not as afraid and you can interact with them better. Even if its just a small 1x1. When mine wants attention, whether its food, hay or just a pat they know to go to the level where they can seem me and wait till I walk by and there they go WHEEK WHEEK.
