Since moving to Slidell I have found amazing new prices. Compared to the 10.99 I WAS paying for 96 oz of timothy hay I am NOW paying 17.50 for a whole BALE of hay. I also used to get 18 lbs of food for about $20 and now I am getting 50 lbs for 25.50. I also have found a local coroplast sign owner that sells 4 ft x 8 ft sheets of blank coroplast for $15 a piece. I am in love with these prices! Does anyone know of any better deals!? I found the food and hay at a local feed store! <33

Wow! Those are awesome prices! I am jealous hehe. Just make sure that the pellets are appropriate for your guinea pigs, and that they are not made with alfalfa if you have adults! Sometimes guinea pig pellets from a feed store are a bad quality feed :yuck:

I did check the ingredients and it's good quality pellets! As soon as I gave it to my girls to try out they were burying their noses in it trying to gobble it all up! LOL! I call them my greedy girls! <3

That's great then :) Thumbs up!

I'd make sure your pellets are one of the brands that are recommended: Oxbow, KM Hayloft, Sweet Meadow or Mazuri 5664 (alfalfa based). If you feed Mazuri 5664, feed no more than 1/8 cup a day per pig. The other three are timothy based and can be fed up to 1/4 cup a day.

Is Purina 5025 Lab Diet a good pellet? I have Mazuri 5664 but one of my girl friends just got the Labdiet and I wasn't sure,

It's not good. It's an alfalfa based pellet with the second ingredient listed as ground corn and has animal fat preserved with BHA. You don't want corn in your pellets or any BHA.

Kristen, if the pellets you're buying just come from a bin at the local feed store, try to get an ingredients list for them. I know three people who have lost pigs to bladder stones who fed those kind of pellets, and their supposition is that the pellets were one of the main causes.
