I am not new to piggies, I have bread before but have not had any in around a year. I am getting a new one in about 2 weeks (mid July) and want a full list of what I need I have printed out many papers but a full list of what you find nessesary. I know what I used to have but there are some things I have recently heard about that I never knew so just tell me without acting like I know nothing about the cute piggies. Thanks.

BY THE WAY: My username is refering to one of my favorite guinea pigs that died around a year ago from a sickness that we didn't know about. Her daughter piglet also caught the sickness and died. NOTE: they showed no signs of being sick.

I am not new to piggies so I would just like some peoples suggestions on what they find you NEED for your piggy (or you need if you wanna pamper him or her)

A C&C cage
Bedding
Hidey Houses
A friend (same sex friend adopted from a rescue/shelter)
Toys and tunnels
Hay
Water
Good quality plain Pellets
1 cup of veggies per day
Floortime
Lots of cuddles and love

That's how I pamper my piggers.

Ly knows her stuff... that's pretty much everything any pig could ever want!

Ly pretty much summed it up perfectly. That would make a great sticky for what every piggie should have :)

Another thing a pig needs is not to have her life at stake by being bred.

I would look over www.guinealynx.info ... your pig was probably showing signs of sickness, but newbies or people not experienced will not notice them. Get a scale and weigh weekly.

In my view the 5 most important things are-

Unlimited Hay

A same sex friend

DAILY (or at least every other day) floortime

A big c+c cage-as big as you can

A variety of veggies/fruits everyday. With plenty of vit c, but remember not too many carrots.

I was not a newbie guinea pig person. They showed no signs of being sick they were perfectly normal. I have had other guineapigs die of sicknesses before and they had drastic problems.

And thanks for everyones help.

What do you feed your guinea pigs? Did you weigh them every week?

You think you know everything but you most likely don't. I am sorry to sound as rude but when I first came to this site I had GP's in the past also and though I knew what I needed to know but I found out right away I didn't. Also if you were searching online about GP's then it's most likely that you don't know everything, even the most expierenced owners still admit they learn new things about GP's everyday. So stop fighting our advice.

I never said thatbut I have done a lot of researching and needed some human advice.

Hate to tell you but that's what they are giving you. Human advice. Unless you think we are all guinea pigs who are using the computer behind our piggie parents' backs :p

Makes a great picture in my Sabriel but.......
I do not want to be badgered they just should say 1x2 feet isn't enough or something like that not its horrible you shoudln't get one at all if thats all the room you can amke.

well it isn't enough really, It's pretty much the size of a petstore cage so I don't see the use in making one.

Yes and I have said many times I found more room but no one listens they go around saying that I am still a horrible person for even considering having a guinea pig in that area.

sorry I didn't realize you said that, where would you be keeping the pigs? Is it well ventilated room? With good heat?

No it really isn't enough Alfie. That's 14 inches by 27 inches. For two a 2X4 or 3X3 is the only way to go. My girls were in acage that size when I first got them. They fought all the time. They were always fighting for room to stretch out and sleep. When I made them thier 3X3 with 1X3 loft they were like new pigs. I had to downsize them to a 3X3 but they are more sedate these days so they are more then happy with that much room. When I get my boar neutered (he is living in a 2X2 with a 1X2 appendage, but he's still a baby.) I'll open it back up again giving the three plenty of room.

If you can't find the room, I would really look into and animal that fits your limitations better. Like a hamster (Syrians must live alone so you can just have one) or fish. A bearded dragon also doesn't take up too much room. Or a leapord geko. Or if you like pretty birds you could get a pair of budgies. Lots f other animals fit it the space you have set aside. Just not cavies.

It will be in my bedroom. There is a window which would be right above them, umm would that be too cold? I would be willing to keep it shut of course). The room is heated I find it can get chilly but I would move the cage a bit in the winter if needed and there would be plenty of hay and toys to hide in and snuggle up in.

I ALREADY SAID I MADE ROOM. I have at least 2x3.5 for one guinea pig and it might be 2x4. I notice you guys must not read all my posts because I have mentioned many times I now have plenty of room.
