You know if you don't get your stuff from ebay, can you do anything about it? Like get your money back. I need to get loads of stuff for Tech and some jewellery for myself but am a bit apprehensive. I ordered a cuddle cup a few months back which I never got.

You need to email the person who sold it to you and tell them. If they don't take action, report it to eBay and they will refund your money.

Really? Will ebay do something about it? My boyfriend paid for something that was supposed to arrive last summer. He emailed the seller several times, who told him he was having trouble sending it. Now the seller doesn't reply to any of my boyfriend's mails.

Indeed. They are pretty good with these things (eBay that is). Also, it can affect a seller's feedback. If you don't receive the item, you could leave them negative feedback, which will really affect their future sales.

I've never had any success with Ebay trying to get $$ back for me... if you paid with paypal, they will get your $$ back, minus a $25 fee.

Well my mom sells on ebay and I am always buying stuff on there. You can email that person and tell the that you plan on leaving extremly negative feedback if you do not receive the item that you have paid for.

Ebay will not do anything unless the item is worth more than $25. We know from personal experience, I'm sad to say. The worst you can do is leave bad feedback, but sometimes there are people who have many multiple accounts to leave fake good feedback so nobody will notice one bad comment.

You can't leave feedback unless you were involved in the transaction, so it's really hard to leave fake feedback unless people are selling things to themselves which is dumb because they're losing money from eBay fees.

The easiest way to protect yourself is to pay with a credit card. I know that Visa will refund your money if you can show them that you've paid for the item and then didn't get it. (That's why it's important to keep emails that relate to your eBay transactions until you get the item.)

As for returning stuff you don't like, most sellers won't accept returns unless it's defective or they send you the wrong thing. Even then, there are items that are sold "as is" and you can't return it. You should find out as much as you can about the item before bidding.

I've bought about three dozen things on eBay and have had a problem only once. It was partly my fault, because the price was too good to be true. The seller vanished, except for a message on his website that said he was filing for bankruptcy. Visa got all $400 of my money back within a week.

I love ebay. I have been pretty lucky with getting everything I ordered until now. I ordered a book for my hubby in Jan and still have not gotten it. Other than that I have gotten everything. I even got my ivermectin from Ebay for like $13.

I have bought loads of things of ebay, one of the first things I look for is feedback make sure your seller has been on awhile and has really good feadback.

Yeah, cheers everyone. The cuddle cup was only worth something like £5 but it's still really annoying. The stuff I need to buy will obviously be more expensive, so we'll see

I always buy and sell on ebay with no problems so far, however I don't buy anything expensive as it is risky!

First thing to do is pull their contact details (which you can do as you were involved in a transaction.
If it has been more than 10 days then file "item not received" with ebay. See http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/tp/inr-snad-process.html.
Communicate with the seller before you leave a negative.
PayPal UK charges you £7 if you win a chargeback successfully (so not much luck for a £5 item).
Ebay will only cover you for £15-£100 (and something).

If you pay through paypal, and don't get the item, and the payment was by credit card, you may be able to get the credit card to reverse the charges. I would only buy with a tracking number, that way you have solid proof if something was ever put in the mail to you.

I have had mixed experiances with Ebay, but being in Canada it is a bit more risky with customs and all when I buy from the states. I once ordered books that took 2 months to get here, no fault at all of the seller. I ordered a toy for my son, it never arrived, but I felt very strongly that the seller did send it, never had tracking to confirm it, but I ate it instead of complaining, because I just had a strong feeling he was not dishonest. (1000+ sales, no negative feedback, offered to pay me back if I did not get it). After that, I only buy if it can be tracked in the post.

I just bought 25 jumbo pinecones from Alabama. They got here in about 3 1/2 weeks, I was not that happy with them, they where old and beaten up, but that is the sort of stuff that is subjective, I'll just have to ask more questions next time.

I have seen a few warnings about buying jewelery though, usually it is garbage or just not what it appears to be.
