It's not on ebay... against policy to sell it there. If you read the other article it's on a reptile auction site. I think that's despicable, though.

Leonard Sonnenschein, president of the World Aquarium in St. Louis, holds We, a two-headed albino rat snake, Monday, Jan. 2, 2006. Sonnenschein has decided to sell the reptile, and bidding on e-Bay will start at $150,000. The 6-year-old snake came to the aquarium's attention when its previous owner distributed a circular offering it for sale days after its birth. The aquarium paid $15,000, knowing full well that most two-headed snakes don't live more than a few months. (AP Photo/James A. Finley)

It did say bidding on eBay.

If you have a look at that page there is a link further down with an updated article. It states on the article that:

"...has decided to sell the reptile, and bidding on reptileauction.com will start at $150,000. "

If you look at that auction site, rightly enough it's on there. I certainly won't be looking at that site again - in my view it's just not right.

I saw a documentary on Animal Planet where a petting zoo-type place collected two headed animals. They had a tank full of two-headed turtles. The good part was that they had people to take care of the animals' special needs since they would not be able to compete in the wild. But it makes me feel bad that they were being gawked at.

I'm more upset at whoever it is that bred the snake (even though I'm sure he didn't mean for it to have two heads) than the guy trying to sell it. It's an albino, so it's not like they were meant to replenish an endangered species - they wouldn't survive if released.

Two-headed snakes are rare enough, but there are only a handful of albino two-headed snakes, probably only a couple alive right now...

Yes, it does. :) And that's why they have so much trouble because each brain wants to do the opposite of the other, including which direction to go and what and when to eat!

All two headed animals are mistakes, not selective breeding.

You don't "breed" two-headed animals. They're some weird mutation.

Of course, there WILL be idiotic people who think it's interesting to see what happens if two two-headed animals breed...
