So this morning I went to pick Philly up out of her cage for lap time and she started squealing like she was afraid or something but was fine when I cuddled her. I could pet her back no problem and she would even close her eyes. I started messing with underside a bit and she would lunge at me like she wanted to bite me and would squeal. I could lightly squeeze her sides no problem but it seems to be her underside. I manage to look at her stomach but it looked normal. She is about 3 months old and eating and drinking normal. She is also pooping. I don't feed veggies that are too gassy no cucumber or broccoli. I'm not sure about mites as I though they were all over the body. She also gained 2 oz in a week so she is 1lb 10oz as of yesterday. What could it be?

How old is she?

Some pigs have areas that they just don't like to be touched, especially anywhere near the rump.

Mites can, and do, infest specific areas before getting out of control. However, if you aren't seeing excessive scratching or dry skin, I wouldn't suspect mites.

Thats fairly reasonable weight gain for a young cavy. I would guess she is totally fine in the absence of other symptoms I mentioned.

Then you thump on her side (Like if you thumped an air filled cheek) does it sound the same? If so and her side are a bit bulgy then she might have a bit of gas. Gas can come from any veggies not just gassy veggies. But its easy to control with a drop of infant gas med that can be bought cheaply over the counter. Its good to have on hand anyways. I would watch her water intake and to watch her peeing and make sure its normal and not bloody or that is she is squeeling and straining to pee. If so she could have a stone. They are rare in young ones but its better to be safe than sorry. Don't dismiss your gut. Its better to be cautious with these little sneaky symptom hiders... Hehe

I think it might have been gas because about an hour and a half later I went to check on her and no more issues. No problem with me touching her now. I was just worried because there weren't many symptoms to go with. Thanks everyone!!
