Can I keep my guinea pig in an aquarium? its a 46 gallon Tall, she gets ALOT of outside time, and even free roaming every day for a few hours a day in the bathroom that I guinea proof daily, by putting everything dangerous in the bathtub, and putting a few rubber bands on the cabinets under the sink so they wont be open.

the dimentions of the tank is pretty good, except for the width 3'L * 1'W * 2'T I have carefresh bedding in there and a few toys, and some hiding places in there as well, the hiding places are like plastic igloos, I think they call them pigloos, but am not sure :-/

Would this be okay for two guinea pigs? or should I build a cage atleast 3*3?

So basically if my math is right that is three square feet (you can't count the height because it is unusable to piggies) that you want to keep two piggies in. That isn't near big enough unless my math is off. With the pigloos and a food dish and water bottle, how do they have room to move around? The floor time you give them is awesome but a few hours a day is three or four in my book. So basically, they would be living in three square feet for 20 hours a day. You might want to go for the 3 x 3 cage (which is over 10 sq feet). Also, with an aquarium, there would be no ventilation for them to get fresh air.

Well as for right now I only have one in the tank, and wanting to get another one to keep Blizzard company, which I refuse to do buisness with a pet store so it is kind of hard due to me only having my feet and the trolly as means for transportation.

Anyhow she gets maybe 7 or 8 hours out of the cage a day, sometimes more if I work over time, will this be sufficient for a week or two? so I can build her a better cage?

It's best not to keep them in any size aquariums. The ventilation in aquariums is bad plus there can be ammonia buildup. Build the C&C instead.

That size is not nearly sufficient for 2 pigs, let alone one! You cannot keep them in that size cage. Please build a C&C cage! I am sure you would have gotten a lot more fuss about this if you had posted it earlier in the day. Please for the pig's sake make a new cage.

If it's a temporary solution until you can build a C&C, then I don't have a problem with it but please wait to get another piggie until you can build the C&C. If it was going to be her permanent housing, then I would be fussing already.

They can fuss, but in my opinion it would be odd as I had asked if I should build a new cage, and build a new cage I will do, but I do have plans for the cage I would like too build, I am not sure if its a C&C but I will try to post pictures on here to ask what you all think of it.

Your piggies will love you for the new cage. You will enjoy how they run and popcorn when they have lots of room. Good Luck.

Thank you Ly&Pigs for actually reading the whole post instead of fussing before hand :) I really do appreciate it.

I can also see why some people would fuss as I would too if it were a perminate thing, but where as it is only temporary I don't get whats so bad about it, as I have taking this guinea pig in with open arms and lots of love, unlike the old home it was in, and work with it daily to help make up for the abuse it has went through in the past, I clean up the feces and wash down the glass with water to get any urine thats on it off of it.

I drew it out on paint, but it is to confusion to post on here, if anyone would like to see it you can E-Mail me at [email protected]
