Do you use puppy pads under your fleece?

If so, where do you buy from? Do you use throw aways or reusable? Do you prefer them over newspaper?

My friend was telling me that she buys these puppy pads from an online store and they can hold a ton of pee without smelling. I've noticed that newspaper starts to smell WAY quick, so these may be something good for me. Thoughts about puppy pads? Do you find that you can go longer without changing your fleece if you were to use them as opposed to newspaper? I'm just running low on newspaper and would rather get some puppy pads if they work better. Thanks :)

I've seen them at Big Lots, Wal-Mart, and the major pet store chains. I don't know where else to get them. I'm sure you could find them online.

I don't use them, however, because I worry about my piggies burrowing and picking/nibbling at the plastic part. Even if I'm 99% sure I tacked down my fleece good enough, they'd figure out something!!

I started using JUST towels under my fleece. I wash them every 3-4 days. I put more towels in the corners where they tend to go more. I originally used newspaper, then towels, then fleece... but it took quite a bit of newspaper and it just smelled worse, in my opinion.

In their new kitchen area, I use newspaper and a little bit of carefresh. I clean it daily, though, so the smell hasn't been much, if at all. I'm almost out of carefresh now and can't go get more... luckily, there is a newspaper recycle bin not far from my house where I can go and grab some. (Have you ever read my other posts where I mention I'm cheap?) My family and friends also save all their newspapers for me, and I have a cross-cut shredder to tide me over until next pay day when I can buy more carefresh-type-stuff.

I use the WalMart brand, Assurance, underpads under my towels and fleece. They are the disposable variety. I like them because they have a plastic side that keeps the Coroplast clean. Two of the 30x36 size fits a 2x4 C&C cage perfectly and I just roll them up and throw them away. Odor isn't a problem, but that might just be because my boys are sooo sweet!lol

I am also thinking about using Puppy Pads under the hay/fleece. Are they ok to use and would I be able to just use these with a fleece on top? And nothing else?

My piggie tends to eat them, so I don't use them because I am sure it's not great for her health.

hrm. I never thought of trying puppy pads. Can you cut them to size? (Sorry, I've never raised a puppy, so I have no idea.)

I use puppy pads under spots that get wet more often. I cut them to the size I need. We got some free puppy pads with this puppy kit and we were'nt going to train my dog to use them so they got donated to the guinea pig. Besides my dog would just destroy the puppypads and not pee on them. They do work pretty well and don't smell. I was thinking of getting a cheap reusable one sometime cause my towels don't work well. I acutally found that using newspaper made my cage smell less but what do I know.
