Do you have a cat too?

we have a cat and she seems to like sabrina but we aren't sure just yet. Is it natural for piggies and cats to get along or are they usually enemies?

I feel that it depends on the animal. My dogs, cats, and pigs get along, but they're never left unsupervised. Once I'm out of the room where the pigs are, everyone else gets out and the door is closed.

Charlie, my cat, loves to sleep in the pig cage. He prefers the top section of the cage, where the towels are. He also likes to sit on top of the pigloo lol. The pigs never seem to be bothered by him, and Temporary, the white and brown pig, cuddles with Charlie. So I've had luck when it comes to all of my animals getting along, but I wouldn't trust any of them without supervision. Afterall, animals will be animals.

I have a cat and his main goal in life is eat my piggies.

My boar is so comfortable around the cats that he got a little over zealous grooming one and bit her! She won't go near him now. She just runs away :p

I have cats and dogs. I have one dog who adopted me at Easter killed 2 of my piggies.
Before that the cats and dogs I had paid them no mind. I did not ever leave them alone unsupervised. I had my pigs in my bathroom with the doors shut. What I didn't know, because my animals never seemed to care, was that one of the doors didn't shut all the way. The new dog heard my piggies wheeking and jumped on the door and it opened. He got 2 of my pigs faster than a streak of lighting. My pigs now are in C&C cages with lids. If a dog goes near the pigs, all I have to do is bring out the squirt bottle (Which they hate) and squirt them. Animlals will be animals, so I am now ever so careful with anything to do with my pigs.

Unfortunately my cat is blind now. But when she was younger she would probably attack the guinea pigs. I think you have to introduce your guinea pigs to your cat when the cat is still a kitten to get them *friendly* with each other. I may be wrong. Just my thought.

I have a kitten who likes to bat at the pigs through the cage and another who is 17 and could care less. My dog will keep the kitten away.

My cat is very fat and lazy, and alittle lonely since I moved out of my mom's house and took her with me. (She was the eldest of 4 adoptees) I originally got the pigs because I wanted my cat to have some kind of friend, and I live in an apartment too small for another cat. She LOVES the pigs. She guards them during floor time, and will groom them if they're on my lap. Of course, the pigs are weary of her, and won't let her touch them unless they're sitting with me. My cage has a top, but I've never seen any kind of aggression from her towards them. She is used to kittens, so I think she just assumes they're very small cats.

I have four cats and so far they don't seem to care much about the pigs. One of my cats will curl up on my lap with the pigs. The others just stare at them with curiosity. For the most part, though, they are disinterested. My friend had her dog here last weekend, though, and WOW, that dog wanted some pigs for breakfast, lunch and dinner! It was a nuthouse here!

Most of my cats have been afraid of the guinea pigs. Even the barn cat that kills rats fell off the bed to get away from a curious pig. The only exception is my 2yr old cat that thinks they look like giant moving mouse toys and our new kittens that were abandoned by their mom in the barn. The guinea pigs are their playmates. Mostly it's kitten chase and guinea pig run but if the guinea pig stops the kitten goes off to chase another kitten. If the guinea pigs really don't want to play they'll chatter and rumblestrut around the kittens who take off for cover. My rottweiler also gets along great with the guinea pigs. They'll follow him around the house and he cleans their ears and rearends. All the animals do like to watch the guinea pigs but the other cats run away when the squeakers are loose.

I have two cats. The Siamese runs off when Ginny's around but the DSH is a bit more intrested. He won't attack or stalk but won't run for cover either. I've even had both him and the pig snuggled on my lap at the same time.

One of my dogs loves the pig. When she's out in the garden in her pen he'll lay by the cage and watch her the whole time. But not in as threatening way fortunately. The other was curious at first but once he got his share of sniffing he backed off and doesn't really care.

I also have 2 cats. Puck loves to play with the pigs but he is a little afraid of them. When they are in the playpen for floor time and see Puck coming, they popcorn. However, Kitty Scarlett once saw Ginger out running around and chased her like something to eat. So, Kitty Scarlett is not allowed around the pigs and I keep the lid on when I am not with them.

I wasn't taking any chances with our 3 cats, so I made sure to build a cc cage that could have lids. Our cats ended up liking our piggers. They will sit on our lap when we hold one, which the piggers don't mind either. None of the guinea pigs are afraid of the cats, and none of my cats are afraid of the guineas.

While Scooby was by himself in the top level of the cc cage, he would popcorn when a cat would come up on top of his cage. Our one cat, Romeo, would dangle his tail over the side and Scooby would try to get it thru the grids. Scooby would also try to get Romeo's hair that came thru the top grid he was laying on. You always knew when Scooby was successful because Romeo would let out a little Yelp.

My cats are older, so I think that plays a role in them not being overly interested in the piggers. The youngest is 8, and does show the most interest in them and loves to watch them from time to time. While my cats have been wonderful with the guinea pigs and I do feel they would never hurt one, I still prefer not to leave the cats alone with them. It's not worth chancing it.

I have 3 elderly rescue cats, all domestic shorthairs to give them their posh title! They are called Tristan, Monty and Sinner and are all now between 15 and 17 plus years.

They have never shown any interest in the adult guinea pigs but when younger,Tristan would try and sneak a peak at any rescue babies we had. So I had to be very careful that the "nursery" door was always shut.

With cats (and dogs) you always have to be very careful and never get too relaxed about the situation. Guinea pigs are very vulnerable little creatures.

We have three cats. The oldest could care less. The next one, Butter, suddenly loves to get in the cage and eat the pellets. The youngest, Ranger, likes to lay in the cage. None of them have gone after the piggies. When we first got them, they did the "what the heck???" look.

so many different responses, it's amazing how different animals are isn't it.
We have been slowly introducing sabrina and our cat oreo. So far it seems like oreo is very protective of sabrina, he has licked her a bit and likes to stay right by her when she is out. He has shown no aggression towards her but alot of cuiosity. He likes to put his hand in her cage and she will sniff it. It usually startles him lol. Sabrina really likes him, she has gone over and layed next to him a few times. I am very satisfied, so far, with the way things are going. I only let them together when I am in the room.
