Hi I just wondered if its normal for piggies to wee in their cozies, hammocks, futons, pigloos etc or is this because my guys are new to me (2 males 7 & 9 weeks old)and they are scared? I only got them yesterday bless and today I had to clean the cage right out as they had wee'd so much. Ive ended up taking out the fleece and newspaper and sectioning a 3rd of the cage off and putting their food water etc in there with newspaper and care fresh and I put lino on the floor of the rest of the cage so I can just wipe anything up. I know the fleece acts as a wick and draws the wee through but so many flies were coming in and the paper underneath was soaked. As was their beds etc.

Completely normal, piggies will pee on anything and everything :) Rather than newspaper, why not try using towels underneath the fleece? It's a lot less smelly and far more absorbent I think.

Funnily enough the only thing my girls won't pee on is their cozy couch, perhaps it looks to much like people furniture for them to relieve themselves on!

In one word 'yes'! They will pee in their cosies and other favorite hiding/resting places. Creating a litter area/kitchen/hay loft area is a great idea, as it means they tend to pee in their instead of all over everything else. My 4 girls have a 2 x 3 bedded area, with 2 hay stacks. I put a fleecey blanket over 1/3 of it, so they feel really secure - and they tend to go in there to chill out and sleep, and pee in there most of all.

As you've only had them a day (awwww - can we see pics?!!), it will take them a while to settle down - and you will probably have several more changes in the cage, until you've worked out a system that works best for both you and your little pigsters!

One of the beauties of cosies etc is that you can throw them in the washing machine when they get wet - so having a few ready as spares is a good idea!

You're right to be concerned about the flies - I saw a few pigs who had fly strike and it really wasn't pleasant, though I believe this is a lot less likely with indoor pigs, is there any way you could stop them coming in (net over windows/bead curtain at door)?

Enjoy your new piggies - we want pics!

Wow its amazing that something so small can produce so much lol

I have changed the cage today as I had thier food on a 2nd level so they had to go up a ramp for it. When I put them in yesterday it took them about 8 hours to come down the ramp so I think they thought that a bit scary. I have removed that area now and eveything is on 1 level. Once they build up their confidence I will put the 2nd level back. I do like the carefresh but its so expensive. I think I will try the towels with the fleece tomorrow. So with 2 piggies how often should I have to change the towels and fleece? Once/twice a week? And pick up poo's on a daily basis?

They have eaten which is good, mainly in the night but havent touched their hay or fresh grass.

I need to think of some names for them so if you guys can help it would be good. So far Ive come up with Percy and Wally/ Fred and Ging/ Boris and Norris/Mocha and ?/ but really I would like something a bit different so ideas please  They are both Teddies.

Heres their pics

So Cute! Here are my suggestions Wallace & Grommit, Theodore and Edward (I have a teddy bear named Ted Edward) or Ralph & Norton. You could try Mocha and Java.

My pigs are actually really good at going ''pee pee'' in the litter pans... unless they are in their cozies at night... then they ''wee'' in the cozy :D

Took me a couple of days. It really works if you switch to shavings for those days, and you have time off. Basically, everytime they went ''wee'' or ''poop'' I would put those shavings into the litter pan right away (I did it over the weekend, and that was enough). Then I switched back to fleece, and now they just go to their litter pans to do their business (of course they still poop in the hidey houses, but they will come out to wee!). For the exeption of cozies, we haven't had a problem! Let me tell you, cleaning their cage is a dream!:D
