Well, my piggy seems to make bed.. what I meant by that is he doesn't shift any hay or anything at all.. he'll just sit on top of the newspaper and keep on stamping on it.. well, not really stamping but he looks as if he's off balance so he's readjusting himself to his comfortable position... This behaviour occurs like 3 to 4 seconds interval.. he seems as if he's imbalance.. heh.. is that natural? Slowly his eye lids will get heavier... heavier... and heavier... unless there's an interference... then he'll be awake... heh

yeah mine do that, it seems like they are tossing and turning before they can go to bed. I'm not sure what its called , but its normal!

My guinea pig digs all the way the the bottom of his cage(lined with newspaper), through all of his bedding, moves all of it away, and then sits in the middle of it. It looks slightly like a nest.

do your pigs let you see them sleep? as in when you go near them, they'll open their eyes and close them again after they see it's you? Or they looks as if they want to close their eyes but they keep on opening them...

My pig when he's tired he'll almost close his eyes... when I come near him... he'll awake and his eye lids slowly and slowly will sink down.. but I've never seen him sleep... when his eyes are about to close, he'll get off balance and he wakes up again... why is this so? is it normal for a 4 month old?

They sleep with their eyes open they sleep alot almost all day id say ofer 15 hours

really? they sleep with open eyes? Well, the 15 hours is accumulated or non-stop? My Joojoo slept for like 30 minutes and start walking with its wheeky sound towards to food tray and start eating... after another 30 minute he'll go back to bed... Is that normal?

Yeah its accummulated. They sleep with their eyes open , i think, to keep watch or deter predators. Yes its normal.

Does your guinea pig really sleep 15 hours? Wow. My pig sleeps about eight. I gave him a whole day of floor time once and when I saw him sleeping(their eyes do kind of sink, and they look like they're squinting at you, ya know?) I'd time how long he slept. About an accumulative 8-10 hours.

They lay down and sleep about 10 hours but ive seen Dagwell standing there staring straight forward not doing anything until i said his name then he snaps out of it, its kinda freaky

Lol, my pigs zoneout too. When I have Cocoa near the computer he'll look at the computer, his eyes so wide you can see the white around the pupil, and then he'll blink and start wheeking really loudly.

Mine dont move at all or make anysounds, if i dont do anything they stay that way, sometimes i think they have secret staring contests!

Heh... so... that's how they sleep... thank goodness.. I thought mine doesn't sleep at all heh... Well, mine is a bit different, he'll sit there with his eyes almost closed but he keeps on adjusting himself... something like making the bed more comfortable... heh... I don't know... but it's so cute to see him sleep... then he'll make a GREAT noise when he wakes up... wheeking wheeking and wheeking... looking for food...

I assumed that was the case since I've never seen Daisy's eyes closed. Here's a dumb question though - how do you know when they're sleeping and when they're just laying around?

Most guinea pigs only sleep about 4 hours in a 24 hour period. They sleep in short intervals of a few minutes at a time.

YOu can usually just tell by there breathing or w/e. If your pig is newer or younger you may not see them with there eyes closed because they are trying to protect themselves.

I think if you were to keep them in a protected area for exampel a box or house or something... they'll close their eyes... mine closes his eyes for a while like 1 second ( I'm pretty sure it wasn't a blink) then he slightly opens his eyes and slowly closes his eyes... it's like a wave

My GP either push the bedding away with their legs or just sleep on those of those hidely house.
