Days ago I've read a post here talking about lethal pigs. And in the post it specifically said that lethal pigs are always white. So, my pig is completely white from head to toe. Does that mean I have a lethal pig?

Snowball doesn't seem like he got any health issues. It's just that I've noticed when I gave him treats by hand, and if it accidentally falls right in front of him, he can't find it without sniffing around first. I'm not sure if all pigs are like that with their eye sights. The SPCA guys didn't tell me anything when i brought him back home either. Can it be sure if I take him to a vet? But if a vet can find that out then the SPCA would know about it when they took him in right? I think it's mandatory for all pets to have a vet visit when admitted into SPCA.

Here is a great post about lethal pigs.

An all white pig does not indicate a lethal. But lethal pigs are always white.

I'm attaching a picture of Salana's (one of our mods here who is a lethal expert) lethal pig Einstein who passed away in 2006.

He was a lethal pig. Look at his eye in the picture and you can see it's not a normal pigs eye. It lacks color.

Hm, I couldn't tell you for sure, but like the picture above, does your piggies eye lack color? I don't know much about lethal pigs, so I'd check with your cavy savy vet :)
I don't really trust the SPCA, they let me adopt a sick piggy- that I had no idea was sick!
My poor Larry was a sweet little pig, until not to long after adopting him he fell extremely sick. The SPCA even made me sign a contract stating they have all their pets vet checked... Sure.
$400 latter and still a sick piggy, he past away in his sleep. I awoke to find him limp under his hidey house. My piggy next door was extremely sad, and pissed at me (brownie gets like that from, time to time).
I would definitely get your piggy vet checked just to be safe. I wish I would have done that right away, and find the vet I have today. The vet before clamied to be an exotic vet, but really me and my mom had to wait over an hour while he researched them- never going there again.
We have a cavy savvy vet now though- half hour away but so worth it :)
Sorry about my little story there, just thought I'd mention it because sometimes the SPCA isn't always what they seem... Have you seen where they're housed? Pretty disgusting!

I can't say I am an expert, but if it doesn't seem like there is anything wrong I would say hes fine. White doesn't mean he is lethal, I think by "lethals are always white" they mean if you suspect you have a lethal (because it doesn't seem like a normal, healthy pig) then it has to be white to be a lethal.

I would say if it seems healthy it isn't a lethal.

Guinea pigs have a bit of a blind spot right in front of their nose since their eyes are on the sides of their head, so I think that's pretty normal.

Most lethals and blind or deaf and have teeth problems. If they are deaf, they seem to have a tilt to their head. Does your pig seem to have that?

wow I didn't know SPCA can be like that. My piggy's eyes have normal colour. He looks healthy too. I'm sorry for your loss. If SPCA have done that in the past then I should get Snowball checked just in case.

oh so that's how a lethal one looks like. Thanks for the reference.

Nope, my pig can hear pretty well. He never tilt his head or anything like that, nor does he have teeth problems so that's good =]
