Do Boy Piggies smell???

Alright so My neighbors have one boy and one girl. the Girls gone into heat lately So the boy is making things stinky!(NO THEY ARE NOT IN THE SAME CAGE AND THE OWNERS ARE NOT GOING TO BREED THEM) My sister is telling me i shouldnt get boys because they smell period. Is this true at all? Could it be because of dominance? like when a cat sprays for territory?

They may smell i dont have a female to compare to but if you clean their cage they dont smell at all!

They smell as much as sows. If there is a female around, then they produce a substance that does smell. If you only have boars, then thats fine

I got males because i read in "The Essential Guinea Pig" (it was quoted on this site that boars are less likely to develop diseases or something. I dont know if its true though.

I'm not sure. I think that they have the same risks. I got boars because the rescue only had them

That scent is probably only the effect of the nearby female in heat. I know that my piggies don't smell, and they are both males.

I'm confused about which sex is better to get. Some places say boars requie more maintance because they can get bedding stuck in their "sacks" and require cleaning or it can create quite a stinky smell. Others say females aren't as personable as males (one person said she thinks it's because of their estrus cycles). Any thoughts on this?

I have two males, and have had three in total, and all of them were the sweetest. My neighbor has had two females but then had a male, and the male did seem a bit sweeter, but I think it's just a stereotype and that both sexes can be equally sweet, they might just have different personalities.

Yes, you do have to clean the anal sac for boars, but its not difficult.
