Hey guys! I’ve recently made a C&C style cage for my guineas and I’m wanting to make them some fleece items. (I love crafts and sewing ect plus I’d rather diy and save) does anyone have any patterns or ideas for anything I can do that’s relatively easy? I’ve done the little no sew pillows you cut and tie but can’t seem to find anything else I can do online. Thankyou in advance!!

I love to sew as well, and guinea pigs are such a good excuse to buy fleece.

I have made cage pads anywhere from 12” square to 18” x 33”. I put fleece on the top and cotton broadcloth fabric on the bottom. The middle layer can be anything lightweight and absorbent, like a terry cloth kitchen towel or a beach towel cut to size.

I have used a server to just layer everything right side out and serge around the edges. And I have also turned everything wrong side together and stitched the edges, leaving a gap to turn it right side out.

The larger size is nice because each one covers a little more than a third of a C&C 2x3 cage. So 3 will cover a whole cage.

The fleece side is comfy for sleeping, the plain cotton side is great for a hay pile because hay and hair don’t stick.

I prefer the anti-pill plush fleece because it is a little thicker and seems to be easier to clean.

I have also repurposed quilted waterproof mattress covers to use for cage liners under a layer of fleece. I’ve gotten some nice ones at thrift store, and just cut them down and finished the edges.

I have also made small snuffle balls using this YouTube video. I don’t use the plastic zip ties, however. I just run strips of fleece through the pieces and tie the sections together.

Sorry for the late reply! I’ve only been sewing for my Guinea pigs for a couple of months but it’s already became a favourite hobby of mine.

One of my favourite no-sew projects was a snuffle mat. I just cut some holes in a square of fleece and tied some strips on and that was it! It was so easy but super time-consuming. I couldn’t find the link but it’s super easy to make. I made the snuffle balls also and my pigs really liked them.

I also love making beds for them! My current favourite bed to make are cuddly cups. I usually use a machine to sew but it can probably be made by hand. Here’s a link with a similar tutorial to the one I used:

I also think fleece forests are a super cute and easy DIY. I made a mini one for my Guinea pig’s bunk beds. I did it without a tutorial and just cut two squares of fleece, one with about 4 inches of excess on the sides (but can easily change these measurements to suit your cage!) and then I cut them into inch-wide strips up to where the two met, folded most of the strips in and trimmed off the corner ones. I put the other fleece on top, good side facing in, and sewed them together, leaving an opening to turn inside out.
