One of my bonded piggies died yesterday and I am need of some advice. Although, I miss my female who died, I am so worried about my lone male piggy now. He's eating and drinking so I'm not necessarily worried about his physical health. I'm giving him extra lap time and toys, etc., but about every 5 minutes or so when he's in his cage he'll just start wheeking. It's breaking my heart and, I assume he misses his cage mate. This seems to follow him looking around the cage. The death was only yesterday, so I'm wondering what I can do on top of what I'm doing already to help him adjust. Right now, I'm not interested in adopting another guinea pig, as I'm still grieving, myself.

It's hard when you lose a loved one. It's probably harder in a different way for your boy, since his companion was with him constantly.

Guinea pigs are made to be with other guinea pigs. As much as it hurts you, you may want to think about what's best for him and look into finding him a companion (it may take awhile if you are looking for a spayed female). As for the wheeking and looking for his companion, it will probably subside in a day or so.

I am so sorry for your loss.
